The Purr Project, Inc. CT all volunteer foster based rescue - 501c3 🐈 Adopt 🐾Volunteer 🐾 Foster with US!

Because we are based at New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine, The Purr Project specifically focuses on those cats that have illnesses, injuries, or other conditions but still deserve to be saved. Because of our mission, almost 80% of our expenditures are for medical expenses. As a 501(c)3 non profit, we depend on the generosity of the public to pay those bills. As a Kitty Klub member, cats that would normally be euthanized will get the chance at the happy life that they deserve.

CHARLI needs a foster hero ASAP! Or finding her forever home would be perfect! Please Like & Share 🩷

Charli”s current foster mama is moving so she needs a safe & loving space to continue her journey until she’s home. Charli doesn’t require a lot of space however she’d thrive better in a calm space where she can continue to blossom. She’s very sweet and loves to play and be with her people once acclimated.

Charli is a young, petite, healthy lady who’s also FiV+.

If you’re interested in Charli and like to know more about how you can help her please DM us or comment.

Thank you from the Kitties! 🐈💜🐈‍⬛

🆘🐾 Emergency TIPS for helping freezing-frozen CATS, DOGS, Etc.

🆘🐾 Emergency TIPS for helping freezing-frozen CATS, DOGS, Etc.

NEVER FEED A COLD ANIMAL. 🚫

IF YOU FIND A HYPOTHERMIC ANIMAL

1. DO NOT FEED
2. DO NOT SUBMERSE IN WATER

1. DO get out of the weather and inside
2. DO dry off
3. DO talk to
4. DO stroke to stimulate blood flow

GET TO A VET IMMEDIATELY!!!

If you feed a kitten with a temp below 97 you can KILL it!
If you warm them up to fast you can KILL it!
If the animal is frozen to the ground DO NOT PULL IT OFF!

Get LUKE WARM tap water and pour it around and under the animal. That water is warmer than the snow and air and is going to feel like FIRE to that animal's nerve endings. Think about stepping into a hot tub and how hot it feels. Again you DO NOT want to use hot water. Then Immediately dry the animal off, wrap it in a towel, shirt etc. and get to the nearest vet hospital.

Steady and slow is rule of thumb. A vet can treat the animal for shock and hypothermia using a series of injections and warm IV fluids and an incubator.

Losing ears, tails, toes or a leg is workable. Damaging internal organs isn't.
