🌿🐾 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — HELP US RECLAIM OUR DOG WALKING TRAILS! 🐾🌿

Did you know our shelter sits on 7 acres of property?

Those acres include wooded trails that give our shelter dogs a chance to get out of their kennels, explore, sniff, decompress, and enjoy a real walk in nature.

Our trails are becoming overgrown with invasive plants, brush, and small trees, and we need some extra hands to help us clear them out!

No plant or landscaping experience necessary!
One of our amazing volunteers is extremely knowledgeable in this field and will be there to guide everyone and show us exactly what should be cut and what should stay.

We’re looking for volunteers who don’t mind getting a little dirty and helping us:

● Cut back invasive plants and vines
● Remove unwanted brush and small trees
● Clear and widen our existing walking paths
● Help make our trails safer and more enjoyable for our shelter dogs

Whether you can help for an hour or spend the day with us, every extra set of hands makes a difference.

These trails are more than just paths through the woods. For our dogs, they’re a chance to get away from the noise of the shelter, stretch their legs, use their noses, and just get to be dogs for a while.

Meet Barium 🖤🤍

At just a year and a half old, Barium is one of those cats who always keeps us entertained! He’s incredibly playful and has a little mischievous personality that makes it nearly impossible not to laugh when he’s around.

Barium likes to be involved in whatever is going on — Boxes? He’s in them. Bags? Also his. Storage closets? He’s there. He loves to explore, play, investigate, and occasionally cause just a little bit of trouble to keep us on our toes.

Barium would likely do best as the only cat in his future home, where he can have all the attention and plenty of playtime all to himself!

If you’re looking for a young, playful cat with a big personality and a mischievous streak who will keep you laughing, Barium might be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. 🐾❤️

🐾 ✨August Adoption Recap! ✨🐾

August brought so many wonderful adoptions, from lots of our kittens and adult cats finding their forever homes to some of our senior and special-needs cats. We also had an incredible month of dog adoptions, with so many of our pups heading off to start their new lives! 🐱🐶🏡

Every adoption not only changes the life of the animal going home, but also opens up space for us to take in another animal who needs us.

Thank you to everyone who adopted, fostered, volunteered, donated, shared our posts, and continues to support The Animal Haven.

Consider this your sign to come meet Nemo 👀🐟

This 2-year-old German Shepherd mix is affectionate, athletic, eager to please, and always happy to spend time outside of the kennel. He knows his commands, is a dream to walk on leash, and is very treat motivated

Nemo gets along especially well with smaller dogs. Case in point: his current crush, Jupiter the Chihuahua mix 💕

When he’s not busy making friends, Nemo is ready to hit the trails or jump into just about any body of water he can find.

💙 ADOPTION UPDATE: SAGE 💙

It’s been almost four months since Sage found his forever home, and we love hearing that he’s continuing to settle in more and more each day!

His adopter says that every day, Sage warms up to her just a little bit more, learning to trust, feel comfortable, and truly make himself at home. And most importantly—she absolutely loves him!

Happy almost four months home, Sage! We’re so happy you found someone who loves you exactly as you are. 🏡🐾
