Happy Thanksgiving from Companion Animal Veterinary Clinic! 🦃

We hope your holiday is filled with family, food, and plenty of cozy moments with your pets. To help everyone stay safe this week, here are a few quick Thanksgiving pet tips:

🐾 Keep pets away from turkey bones and fatty foods
🍂 Avoid sharing onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, and chocolate
🕯️ Watch pets around candles and busy kitchen spaces
🧡 Create a quiet space for pets who get stressed by visitors

This is Henry Bruckner, and he had a big day!

Henry just completed his final chemotherapy treatment, and he is doing so well. Our team could not be more proud of how strong and resilient he has been throughout his entire journey.

Henry has been a joy to care for, and moments like this are why we do what we do.

Help Us Welcome Adrienne to the Team! 🌟

We’re so excited to officially introduce Adrienne, our newest receptionist! Although she’s been with us for a little over a month, many of you may have already experienced her kindness, calm presence, and incredible knowledge.

Adrienne has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2001 and has worked in a variety of small animal practices, with a special interest in exotics. After many years on the floor as a tech, she’s joined our front desk team for a role that’s a little easier on her joints but she brings every bit of her experience, passion, and heart with her.

When she’s not helping pets and their people, Adrienne pours her creativity into art (check out the amazing drawing of Dr. Tramp's cat she shared with us! ). She also has a deep love for the human–animal bond, which shines through in every interaction.

Originally from New Mexico, Adrienne is also into hot air ballooning. How cool is that?

We’re so grateful to have her as part of our family. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome! 💙

This sweet pup absolutely stole the show during her exam! Not only is she incredibly photogenic, but she was also the perfect patient. We loved every minute of her visit.

Regular checkups are so important for keeping pets happy, healthy, and feeling their best. A quick visit can catch little things before they become big things and we are always here to help your pets shine just like this beautiful girl!

🌈 Talking to Kids About Losing a Pet
Featuring: Dr. Tramp, her three girls, and sweet Wally 🤍🐾

One of the hardest parts of loving a pet is knowing we’ll one day have to say goodbye. In our family, we believe in facing that gently, honestly, and together.

As Wally’s health has changed, we’ve focused on a few things that have really helped the girls understand and cope:

🪣 A Bucket List for Wally
Simple, meaningful things—extra walks, favorite treats, snuggles in “his spot,” and special adventures. It gave the girls a way to celebrate him instead of only fearing the goodbye.

💬 Honest, Age-Appropriate Talks
Kids handle truth better than uncertainty. We explained that Wally’s body is getting tired and that our job is to love him well and keep him comfortable.

📚 Books That Helped Us
• “Heaven for Animals” by Nancy Tillman
• “The Invisible Leash” by Patrice Karst

These opened the door to conversations the girls needed to have.

From drawing pictures to giving extra treats, small moments gave them a sense of love and control in an emotional time.
