After a 16.5 hour drive home yesterday I made it home at 12:38am pacific time and crashed. After getting up early to unload my truck, Hanna and Heike smelled game in the truck, and man, did I get the stink eye! Hanna had to stay home and undergo antibiotics and treatment for an infection, and did she ever feel left out. As I was unloading coolers I noticed my small cooler still had a cottontail rabbit used for the fur drag portion of the test, so Hanna was able to do a drag. And yes, there is a little Darthvador breathing, I had a ton of stuff to unload! 😅

We had a long day in the field yesterday. Our counters registered 32,000 steps, so the dogs were probably triple or better. They did two super scent-loud hare tracks and a fun sight-loud cottontail run, along with some great retrieves. We were joined in the field by our host, my nephew Aaron, and his friend Adam. Adam brought his Drahthaar, Maverick, and Kurzhaar, Daisy, and can that Daisy girl cover some ground! What a great day with a few birds in the bag, and some sore legs all the way around.

Six years ago Thomas had just finished his GP blood track with his wachtelhund Quill. I was giving him a hard time for me, the old guy having to carry out the goat used at the end of the track as the dead game found by Quill. We both laugh every time we come across this photo. Great times!
