Today I accidentally overfilled the big pool right up to the brim…which blessedly did NOT drain the well but DID provide some actual swim time for some of the larger dogs😊, Bravo the newbie poodle made more new friends on his second day with us 🤗and we never got smacked with any fun interrupting Thunderstorms🙌
On a different note….IMPORTANT EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION! Now that the summer humidity is well and truly here you MUST dry your water loving dogs to the skin daily. If you don’t your dog will first start to smell like an old gym sock (yeast/fungus/bacteria) next it will develop nasty and painful hotspots, after that you will be heading to the vet to part with your paycheck. The easiest way to dry your dog is in their crate with a regular box fan pointed at them for air circulation (have them on a thick towel and change that during the process)😉

Ok! Gorgeous day…great dogs…lots of pool time AND the 4x4 posts you see along the fenceline in some of the pictures are the beginning of our new fence project thanks to Bill and crew at Hardtime Handyman. I have been FREAKED OUT about this project but Bill keeps telling me its going to be fine😵‍💫🤦🏼‍♀️👍

Before I get today’s play pictures up, I would like to take a moment to remember Miss Ellie, the Golden who I first met in my Obedience classes when she was right around 9months of age in 2016. She took all of the Obedience classes I offered…right through Advanced 2, and remains a stand out in my mind as the dog that would never do a sit stay if I was anywhere near her. She loved me and she knew I loved her as she would squirm her way to me corrections be damned. The expression on her face melted me everytime she did it…week after week…session after session. Its that expression I have had in my mind’s eye every time I think of her.

She was “the Girlie” who started daycare with us in early 2018 and with the exception of dangerous weather or illness never missed her Tuesday/Thursday playtime.

She was the beautiful fluffy dog who pranced her way down the kennel path and who then found unabashed joy in getting wet and then vigorously rolling in the shavings.

She was the crazy dog who we often had to physically pull out of the pool so she could be more or less dry to go home.

She was the sweet dog who spent a lot of her time here trying to hold not one, not two but three balls in her mouth…if only she could get them lined up right.

She was the heartbreaker Girl that developed an aggressive and degenerative arthritis that pain meds no longer helped with.

Remembering Miss Ellie…laid to rest last Friday, just shy of her 10th Birthday. Kudos to her parents for doing right by her when she needed them most. Thank you for trusting Ashley and I with that wonderful soul all of these years.

Yes it was a warm one…so we busted out the new toy…a 97” splash pad AND messed around in the FULL pools AND made frequent trips inside to cool down in the AC (which is set at 65 😋)

Made it! I remained vertical all day 🙏 the four leggeds had an AWESOME day (Ashley got Jacob to swim!) and its our Friday🙌 A reminder to everyone about next week/heat wave/high humidity. Please remember we are 100% airconditioned. There will be a lot of indoor play to cool down inbetween CLOSELY monitored outdoor play. No issues on our end of things! Late with the post again!! Sorry everyone! The four leggeds had a great day of course but I started the day pretty sure I had food poisoning…I ended my day slipping and falling on my back deck! I am ok…quite sure I will be moving slow tomorrow though! I am mentioning the back deck part because at this time of year as we all know, the decks can get pretty slimy when they don’t get a chance to dry out. So if your dogs are anything like my dogs, you want to be very careful when you open that slider and let them out Because they can slip and fall too! I ended up going down sideways on my knee twisting it “good”and I’m pretty thankful that I can still walk. But a dog can blow out a cruciate or tear a meniscus and you are looking at a mega expensive vet bill and many weeks of post surgical care in most cases. So be careful with yourselves and them please!

Another fun summer day🌞the big news of the day is Millie, the deaf newbie puppy now has the full run of the yard and is 100% FEARLESS. Up/over and in absolutely everything! We got quite the work out keeping up with her!
