A little training before a little shopping 🐾🛍️

Before we headed to do some shopping, Marshall and I stopped to burn off a little energy with some obedience.

Training doesn’t always have to be a long, structured session. Sometimes 10–15 minutes of focused work is all it takes to satisfy a dog’s mind and set them up for success the rest of the day.

A little heel work, a few sits and downs, some recalls, and a dog that’s mentally fulfilled before heading into a busy environment.

A tired dog isn’t always a physically exhausted dog, often it’s a dog whose brain has had something productive to do. 💪🐶

Little miss Lucy took on Ashley Park today and absolutely crushed it!🐾

We practiced all of her commands in a busy environment, with a big focus on her downs and leash manners around new distractions. From working alongside our favorite cattle dog Fletcher to navigating new people, cars, and all the excitement that comes with a public outing, Lucy showed off just how much she’s learning!

One of our goals is teaching Lucy that she can notice the world around her without needing to interact with everything she sees. Appropriate greetings are great, but so is learning when it’s time to stay focused and keep working!

These real-world adventures help build the foundation she’ll need for future!

Session 2: Teaching Banshee “Mark” 🐾🎯

Another short session building on Banshee’s understanding of the mark command. Today was all about adding another layer of clarity and continuing to make the behavior fun.

Sometimes the best training sessions aren’t the longest ones—they’re the ones where you make progress and end on a high note.

This session was filmed just before Banshee headed to the vet for a tail procedure, so she’ll be taking a few weeks off to recover. Don’t worry though, she’ll be back on the page soon, and we’ll pick up right where we left off.

Until then, we’ll have plenty of our other dogs to keep you entertained while this little land shark gets some well-deserved rest. 💪🐶❤️

Wally update! 🐾📈

Making great progress with Wally!

Today’s session was all about taking his obedience on the move. We practiced sit while I walked away, down and walked away, and finished with a recall to keep engagement high.

I don’t want Wally to only understand commands when I’m standing right next to him. By gradually adding distance, he learns that the expectation stays the same even when I’m several steps away.

Every session we’re building a little more reliability, a little more confidence, and preparing him for the situations he’ll face in everyday life.

He’s making great strides, and we’re just getting started. 💪🐶

Lucy has been absolutely crushing it during her stay with us!

As a very eager, happy girl who loves to say hello to everyone she meets, we’ve been working hard on teaching her that it’s okay to be interested and excited about the world around her...but that doesn’t mean we always get to interact with it. 💜

Today, we added even more distractions to her sit and place work, including bicycles riding by, cars passing, people out for walks, and even a few dogs. Lucy noticed all of them, but she practiced choosing calmness and staying engaged with her job instead.

These skills will pay off big time for her owners in the future. Whether they’re enjoying dinner on a patio, heading out on vacation, exploring festivals, or simply taking neighborhood walks, Lucy is learning that she is capable of ignoring those hard, enticing distractions and making great choices!

Teaching “place” through real-life distractions 🧠🐾

Working with Midnight on his place command while creating a little excitement myself, making funny noises, moving around, and trying to tempt him to break position.

Why? Because Midnight has children at home.

Kids are naturally energetic, unpredictable, and loud, so it’s important that his training reflects the environment he’ll actually be living in. By gradually introducing those distractions now, we’re helping him learn that even when life gets exciting, his job stays the same.

Training isn’t about practicing in perfect conditions, it’s about preparing for real life. 💪🐶
