Congratulations to our newest RECOVER-certified CPR rescuers! 🐾

Huge shoutout to the 8 amazing participants who completed their RECOVER CPR Rescuer certification this past Sunday at DVMA's hands-on workshop held at Forrest Avenue Animal Hospital! 🎉

A special thank you to our incredible instructor, Lisa Smith, LVT, VTS(ECC), for leading such high-quality hands-on training session and equipping our members with the skills to respond confidently in a veterinary emergency.

These certifications, based on the RECOVER Initiative's evidence-based guidelines, mean our newly certified rescuers are now prepared to provide life-saving CPR to pets in critical moments — because every second counts.

Thank you to everyone who dedicated their Sunday to learning these vital, life-saving skills. We're so proud of you!

Delaware OAW is proud to sponsor an ASAR (Animal Search and Rescue) Training on Friday, August 14 at the Delaware State Fire School in Dover!

This FREE 8-hour course covers companion animal and large animal behavior, handling, and triage during disasters — both in the field and in shelter settings.

🙌 Highlight of the day: hands-on, live animal handling exercises in the afternoon! You'll practice real-world scenarios with both companion and large animals — invaluable experience to build your confidence for actual disaster deployments.

Whether you've already completed American Humane training or you're just starting your disaster response journey, we encourage you to sign up. The more trained responders we have, the better prepared Delaware is to help animals when disaster strikes.

📅 Date: Friday, August 14, 2026
⏰ Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
📍 Location: Delaware State Fire School, 1461 Chestnut Grove Road, Dover

Dr. Erin Altares (AVMA Delegate) and Dr. Michelle Crosier (AVMA Alternate Delegate) traveled to Anaheim, California for the House of Delegates meeting at the AVMA Convention. They represented DVMA at the AVMA District II Caucus meeting and enjoyed great conversations and connections with representatives from surrounding states.

The AVMA recognizes the challenges that members face in regard to workforce shortages, emerging disease, mid level practitioner advances, telemedicine and artificial intelligence and are maintaining engagement in these areas. Dr. Robert Knapp was elected 2026-2027 President-Elect and Dr. Elizabeth Boggier was elected 2026-2028 Vice President.

As the photos prove, they had a fantastic time serving our association in such an impactful way!

Inefficient workflows quietly drain your practice's time, money, and patience. If your team is constantly putting out fires instead of running smooth systems, our "Veterinary Systems & Operations" sessions will show you how to identify bottlenecks and apply tools that actually stick.

All veterinary team members - both DVMA members and non-members - are welcome to join us for this practice-elevating conference.
