Last night, nearly 30 veterinary professionals gathered in New Castle County at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill for an educational dinner meeting sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition — and what a great evening it was!

We were thrilled to welcome Deidre Gesualdi, DVM, who delivered an insightful and engaging presentation on “Weight Cannot Wait.” From practical strategies to fresh perspectives on managing overweight pets, attendees walked away with valuable tools to support healthier outcomes for patients and clients alike.

Members of the DVMA DEI Committee hosted a wet lab for the Delaware State University Pre-Vet Club, where students learned about intravenous catheters and practiced placement on simulated models. The lab was a hit and the committee plans on repeating the event quarterly with varying topics of interest to the students.

NCSU is conducting a nationwide study surveying the use of blood products in farm animal species, including cattle, small ruminants, camelids, and pigs. This study aims to describe the protocols and techniques used for collecting, storing, and administering these blood products in both private practice and academic settings. The summarized findings of this study will be made publicly available and help identify future areas of research. This survey consists of multiple-choice and short-answer questions and takes ≤15 minutes to complete. Please note that all responses are anonymous, and no personal identifiers are collected, except for the state you practice in.

DVMA hosted its Annual Awards Luncheon yesterday during our Fall Conference at Bally’s in Dover, and what an incredible celebration it was! 🎉

Over 200 veterinary professionals came together yesterday at Bally’s in Dover for a full day of learning, laughter, and connection. 🐾💙

From parasites to anesthesia, kidney and GI disease to equine reproduction — our sessions were packed with fascinating insights from incredible speakers across the country (and right here at home!). 🙌
