Sometimes that’s true.

But sometimes your dog is acting like an overtired toddler who skipped nap time and found a bag of Skittles.

More zoomies.
More barking.
More biting.
More chaos.

Not because they need another mile-long walk.

Because they’re exhausted.

Many behavior struggles we see aren’t caused by a lack of exercise—they’re caused by a lack of balance.

✅ “Place” while the family eats and “leave it”

❌ Playing “chase me” around the house
✅ Practicing recalls for treats

What’s in your dog’s toolbox? 🧰🐾

Before we ever talk about a leash, collar, harness, or any “tool”…

We ask:
✔️ Does the dog actually understand the cue?
✔️ Have we built enough relationship and clarity?
✔️ Does the dog have enough reinforcement history to succeed?
✔️ Have we taught the tool itself?

Because tools don’t teach dogs.
People do.

A tool should never replace:
✨ communication
✨ trust
✨ consistency
✨ education

The reality is most “stubborn” dogs are usually just confused, underprepared, overstimulated, or haven’t generalized the skill yet.

Training isn’t about buying more gadgets.
It’s about teaching clearly.

One of the biggest mindset shifts I’ve had as a trainer and dog owner?

Instead of asking:
“How do I stop this behavior?”

I started asking:
✨ What’s driving this behavior? ✨

Is it genetics?
Lack of clarity?
Overstimulation?
Breed instincts?
A puppy brain with zero impulse control?
A dog simply doing what has always worked for them?

Because most dogs are not trying to “give you a hard time.”

They’re just:

* doing what makes sense to THEM
* repeating behaviors that meet a need
* responding exactly how they were bred, raised, or reinforced to respond

Living with my own dogs taught me that better than anything else ever could.

Siegfried LOVES having a job.
Rosco thrives when expectations are clear and consistent.

They’re different dogs with different brains, different motivators, and different needs — and that changed the way I approach training completely.

Not every dog needs “more correction.”
Sometimes they need:
⭐ more understanding
