Meet Timothy. He’s one of our longest residents. He’s 5 years old and has been here 4 years 10 months. He really needs to experience life outside of the shelter. Beautiful boy. He’s fully vetted, neutered and flea treated.

O boy! So this is definitely not a The toddlers started climbing out of their pen last night headed by the ring leader, Nymeria! Yes. Sweet little baby girl figured it all out and at 2100 (9pm) to say the least. So, we opened a panel so they could start having free reign. And now, it's kitten chaos as they start their next big adventure! The pen is now taken down and awaiting future toddlers. For now, these guys will be exploring every nook and cranny they can find. Wish us all luck 🤣

It's and today I wanted to share something with you guys. Everyone always sees how playful and beautiful life is here at Darby Maine C***s , but we also have heartbreak, unfortunately. I missed and I'm sorry you didn't get a fluffy picture, but I was unfortunately at Green Lawn Animal Clinic . Artemis was having problems with her labor, so after doing what I could at home, to no avail, it was veterinarian time.

Artemis had to have an emergency c-section. And I elected to have her spayed also. She has had problems with her 3 litters, and I felt it was in her best interest to retire her. Then, Dr Ge**er delivers 5 little souls. However, 2 were cleft palate deformities, and unfortunately I had to decide to humanely euthanize. 😭 I talked about tube feeding until they were older, but I am a big proponent of Quality of Life (QoL). And, they were not going to have much of one needing surgeries later and possibly suffering until then. If they made it. Kittens are so fragile compared to puppies. I made the correct call as one of the babies began displaying significant distress 😔

Breeding is hard. It's full of heartbreak and full of wonder and happiness. I do it because I love these guys and sharing them is wonderful. All of the families, but a couple, keep in touch and I get to see how my babies grow and are loved. 🥰

It's and Carmella aka Patch is enjoying her life to the fullest. She has my electric throw on the floor and seems to be enjoying every minute of it 🤣 When I moved it back on the bed, I got the look of "excuse me, I was enjoying that".

Also, today is Memorial Day, the unofficial start of Summer. But, it's a day we remember our veterans who are no longer with us. Enjoy the day, but remember what this day is. ✌🏻
