The SCKC Monday Rally Class will resume instruction on September 8, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:45:00 pm. Each week we will instruct Novice, Intermediate, & Advance in that order. Novice will begin at 4:00 pm followed by Intermediate and Advance. To participate in class dogs need to be able to heel (on leash for Novice & Intermediate, off leash for Advance), sit, down, stand, and stay. At 6:00 pm we will instruct the Master/Choice class one week and the Excellent class the alternate week. On September 8th we will instruct Master/Choice at 6:00 pm. On September 16 we will instruct Excellent at 6:00 pm.
If your dog is in season or injured so they cannot participate in the class you are welcome to come, observe, and walk the courses with us and even run an invisible dog. There is no charge for walking the courses or running invisible dogs.
No aggressive dogs or dogs in season please.
The class is drop in – no advance registration is required. Each participant has three runs regardless of the number of dogs they are training. Cost is $10.00. Once everyone has had three runs, if there is still time prior to our 6:45 end of class, participants may have additional runs on the course that is set up. Please bring a crate. After you do your run, an instructor may work with you individually to ensure that you are doing the signs correctly. Our Monday Rally instructional team includes Nancy Sherman, Sue Schimel, and me.
When you sign in the first time I will ask for your email address, phone, dog’s breed and name as I send a debrief of the class the week after we have trained. If our class has to be cancelled due to an emergency we will email and call you to ensure you do not come to participate in a class that has been cancelled. No correction collars are allowed during training. However, you may use a pinch collar to get from your car to the building if necessary. You may use any length of leash in the ring; however, consider using a six foot leash vs a four foot leash. A four foot leash tends to go tight when you make turns.
Several students are getting puppies. When your puppy has all of its shots and is able to come to class please bring them before the start of class so that they can acclimate to a training environment. When they come they can walk the course so that they get used to seeing signs, sign holders, and cones. If there is a bar jump in the ring they can walk between the posts so that they get used to going between the posts, not around them.
Several students are videotaping their runs – we encourage this so that you can review your performance between classes.
Have a safe rest of the summer, try to stay cool, see you after the Labor Day holiday and Rally On!
