Join us at a pop-up in Kettering Sunday 8/24 4-6pm hosted by , have some drinks and tacos (try our mushrooms!) 🍄🌮

From : In an effort to collaborate and support another local business, Sueño is hosting a “pay what you can” pop-up event at D20: A Bar with Characters in Kettering on Aug. 24.

“It’s more of just a collaborative opportunity to do something cool in the suburbs — bring the Sueño brand down here, meet some folks who may not have been into the restaurant or don’t go downtown as often, and try to boost up a Sunday,” said Chris Dimmick, who owns the restaurant with David Kittredge, Ginger Roddick and Chef Jorge Guzman.

The pop-up event will take place from 4-6 p.m. featuring a taco bar with Mexican street food. Guests can expect house made heirloom corn tortillas with carne asada and a seasonal vegetarian option, sikil pak, guacamole and street corn.

All proceeds from the event will go to D20.

Dimmick, who lives near the Kettering bar, said he wanted to collaborate with D20 after the owners posted on Reddit that the bar was in need of some help.

“When I saw that post, I said, ‘Okay, we need to get together and do something and maybe turn a mellow Sunday into a night that’s bigger,’” Dimmick said.

Chrissy Sparks, who has owned and operated the bar with her husband, Andrew, for almost nine years, said their traffic is down about a quarter to a third of what it was prior to Covid.

“It’s been really, really difficult to recover from COVID and just a bunch of other economic factors too,” Sparks said. “We just wanted to be open and straightforward about the fact that we want to continue being here for the community and we want to continue operating in the way we have.”

D20 is a board game bar known for being a welcoming space for Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering players. The bar is family-friendly and features a wide variety of beer on tap as well as a large list of non alcoholic options.

Hey guys, we’re still looking for more wholesale fresh mushroom clients to help recover lost sales from the termination of the LFPA (Local Food Purchase Assistance) Program in June. We supplied 130 lbs of mushrooms a week to , who distributed to them to hungry families. Clawing back those sales to the level we were at before has been a challenge during our slow season, so we’re reaching out to the community.

Calling all personal and restaurant chefs, produce sellers, farm stands, caterers, home cooks, grocers, small store operators. Come get some healthy, local Ohio-grown CLEAN gourmet mushrooms. You’ll be the first to touch them with your bare human hands. 🍄🚨

We do have a 5-lb order minimum for refrigerated delivery and our delivery days are:

Monday/Friday - Dayton metro
Tuesday - Cincinnati metro
Wednesday - Columbus metro

Weekly standing orders are preferred, but we can accommodate infrequent orders as well. 💯

Currently growing: Lion’s Mane, a seasonal variety of oyster mushrooms, velvet pioppini

Call or text our line for more details. 937-369-0696 or DM here.

Although we’re late on this announcement, we wanted to let you know that we were awarded a grant from to sponsor large donations of fresh mushrooms to a local food pantry we have supported out of our own pocket since we first started this thing: The House of Bread. ❤️

The House of Bread, located at 9 Orth Avenue in Dayton, Ohio, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community kitchen with the mission that no one deserves to go hungry. Operating seven days a week, it serves free, hot, nutritious lunchtime meals from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to anyone in need.

The Hall Hunger Initiative (HHI), founded in 2015 by former U.S. Congressman and United Nations Ambassador for Food and Agriculture Tony Hall, is a Dayton, Ohio-based nonprofit dedicated to eliminating hunger in the Miami Valley by building a just and sustainable food system.

The grant was awarded in response to our terminated LFPA (Local Food Purchase Assistance) contracts that ended in June, which supplied 130 lbs of mushrooms a week to Ohio Foodbanks and schools. The award period lasts from July 1 - August 5 and sponsors 35-lb weekly deliveries to HOB totaling over 200 lbs of mushrooms.

HOB is facing unprecedented demand and low supply. We are transitioning away from LFPA and into new markets. This timely award brings healthy, sustainable mushrooms to HOB meals and provides us some financial cushion while we complete our transition.

Thank you, Hall Hunger Initiative! Shoutout to Mary and Sherry at the House of Bread! You guys rock!

HOB not only takes food, but supplies and monetary donations. Visit https://houseofbread.org/ for more.

You can also sponsor a tax-deductible mushroom donation to House of Bread thru us:
