The new girl, Grace has definitely found her place at the shop, right in the arms of this big, bad bear 🤣 Her joyful attitude and ability to bounce between multiple departments has been so wonderful, she makes us laugh so hard, and we are so happy to have her on our team!

And just like that, we have a BIG, beautiful bongo in the shop! An animal this size is always an undertaking, but this form has to be sized up significantly. Studying reference and reading the skin take years to master, and Courtney helped show Gianna the ropes. She’s been doing a phenomenal job with gameheads and some bigger African species, so we let her take the reins on mounting this beautiful animal. Seeing a finished product that exceeds our expectations is what the teaching experience is all about. Way to kick ass Gianna!

Tomorrow we wrap up this big, bad, chonky Texas bongo and we couldn’t be more excited! Being located in central Texas offers us a plethora of amazing animals to work on from nearby exotic ranches. We never know what will roll in the door from day to day.

The stacked roan/sable pedestal is mounted! It’s crazy to look around and see what all amazing things we have going on at once in the shop. 10 years ago we would have DIED to get more than one African crate in a month. Now, we get several a week. Ask and you shall receive. Kudos to our amazing team for keeping things moving at all times, we appreciate all the hard work!

Today was bittersweet, as we wished Shannon smooth sailing into the next chapter of her life. She’s been with us for 9 amazing years, through ups and downs, thick and think she has always been a rockstar employee. She’s taught countless people tricks of the trade, earned many prestigious awards in competition and helped shape our company into what we are today. There’s no doubt in our minds we would not be where we are without her hard work and years of dedication to the craft. We will never be able to replace her talent, adorable giggles and the friendship she brought to our team. Shannon, we wish you the best of luck in the next bc chapter of your life, we know you will continue to be the amazing, sweet and dedicated person you’ve always been. We love you and are so thankful for every day we got to work alongside you!

Texas is heating up so we decided to have some fun today and do a watermelon eating contest! Each piece was weighed prior to starting and no hands allowed! Messed were made, laughs were had and Courtney walked away with a cash prize for the win! It’s days like this we can look back on and smile, share a few laughs and reminisce.

It may be a short week, but we have BIG projects to get done! Some lifesized, this killer stacked pedestal, and some really cool one off species! Stay tuned for what’s sure to be another amazing week of work!

Ohhhh how we love a Nile lechwe! You don’t see too many of these amazing animals, so we really cherish them when we get to mount one. Someone please get one lifesized!

We love when little ones come into the shop and point at all the animals, naming them and telling us what sounds they make! This is Evie, Simone’s niece and she was just overjoyed coming to see what her amazing aunt does for a living! That smile made our hearts melt 🥰

Euros with velvet are so cool, especially when the velvet is this fluffy! This is a Père David’s david deer, a very unique and not so often seen animal in our shop. Native to China, but kept on exotic ranches in Texas, it is a sought after animal for the hunter who has most of the standard exotics already ticked off his or her list.

Back at it this week with our amazing team! You may notice a few new faces in these pictures, we have taken some new apprentices on board to help with the growth we are experiencing. Please help us welcome Hannah and Christian to the team! They’re both doing an amazing job, learning the basics and helping our taxidermists be more efficient. The skills required to do what we do take years to master and it’s a lot to learn at once so we have found that teaching fundamentals first and building upon that grows really well rounded artists. We can’t wait to see their full potential based on what we’ve seen thus far!

Our job is difficult, extraordinary and all around amazing. Our dedicated team stayed late, worked their asses off and came together to make this piece a one of a kind work of art. From our new apprentices to our most experienced taxidermist, every one will have a hand in this and we are so happy with how it’s coming along.
