Edie came in to our shop just under a year ago, eager to learn about taxidermy and she has taken to it like a fish to water! She has an unbelievable natural talent to see something and immediately put it into practice.

She competed with a Catalina goat since she loves goats, and this was one she did before knowing she would be going to competition. No extra prep, no ear liners, just her amazing daily dose of talent! She wanted to learn how to finish the mount(apoxie work and painting) so our full time finishers showed her the ropes on some other animals. She was able to learn quickly and translate these new skills into her own work.

Bringing home a second place ribbon at Texas with a piece that was done as commercial work is a huge accomplishment and we are so dang proud of her!

She said competing opened her eyes to how creative the art of taxidermy can be!

Hannah came in as an assistant a year and a half ago and moved up to a taxidermist position within just a few short months. Her drive to be the best she can is apparent in everything she does.

She grew up knowing a creative career was the only option to keep her engaged enough to express herself from a young age. Going into stores like Bass Pro Shop and seeing taxidermy caught her eye and planted a seed that would later grow into a beautiful talent. She says mule deer were her first and strongest obsession in the field, with their striking dark faces and big, fluffy ears. The way they carry themselves is unique, just like her. She researches during all of her free time, scouring photos over breakfast and dinner, and honing her skills on commercial mounts at the shop. She took a set of shop antlers and an early season hide and created this beautiful mount which embodies the soft, gentle grace they have before the rut hits full swing.

She earned a third place ribbon which is amazing on this well studied species with a very knowledgeable judge in the industry. We think it should have earned higher, but the point of competition is to do your best and learn from what your judges critique you on and that is exactly what Hannah did. We are endlessly proud to call her part of our team. Next year is gonna be BIG gains!
