GPRW is about caring, sheltering, and placing Great Pyrenees dogs in their forever homes. Great Pyrenees Rescue of Wisconsin, Inc.

is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to the care and placement of Great Pyrenees dogs who are abandoned, surrendered, or found as strays. GPRW volunteers pariticpate in many public events as well as fund raisers to increase awareness of the GPRW mission.

What a wonderful announcement I can make today !
Rush after over 1 year in rescue has a family ! A wonderfully amazing family who will stand by him thru thick and thin ! A family who adores his goofy side , welcomes his lovey side and will work out any rough edges .
Rush’s new home is in Suamico WI .
His new folks Brian and Kathleen Mason are thru the years 3 times adopters from GPRW.
Brian and Kathy we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving Rush a new life and for letting Romeo and Kane live out their lives surrounded with support and love.. and pontoon rides .

GPRW welcomes Bonded pair of 3 year old sisters Mara and Winter to the rescue !
The girls were surrendered due to a change in family circumstances that left little time for the pair. The owners hoped for better for them .
The girls are healthy with no known illness injury or allergy .
Mara and Winter are house trained .
They have lived with children and done well .
They have lived with a male dog without issue .
They have little interest in cats .
They have been known to give chase to rabbits and squirrels.
Mara and Winter are NOT LGDs and would not prefer to live outside .
They are bonded and will be placed as such .

Yesterday Anna celebrated her 10th birthday . She celebrated in a shelter . No home . No family .

Update : All gorgeous with no place to go !
Anna has completed her vetting and even had her first groom followed by her first cheeseburger .
She is ready for a family !
We have had some great families apply . However if you are not willing to come meet her or are leaving soon on a vacation or your whole family is not on board with adopting please don’t apply .
It’s Anna’s time to be put first and she deserves nothing less.

Anna is the sweetest girl one could meet ! This girl just wants a family . She just wants love .
Our beautiful Anna is 9 almost 10 years old . She had been bred throughout her life from the time she was able to conceive until this last March with no breaks between .
Anna came into care Lyme positive as well as with worms . She had a large benign tumor .
Anna was treated for Lyme and for the worms . She was spayed and had the tumor removed . Anna had a difficult time after developing an abscess but she beat that too !
She loves attention . Cherishes her food . Loves walks and keeps up with those half her age .

Congratulations to Chris and Jeff Deprey on their adoption of ….insert drum role here … Merle !
Merle is now an official Packer Backer living in Green Bay !
Merle has kept his new parents quite busy his first few weeks but they say they love him and will continue to work out any issues .
Thank you Chris and Jeff for taking in this sweet boy whose whole world fell apart .

GPRW has a wide variety of dog’s available for adoption pictured below as well as a few not quite ready to move into a new and different world just yet .
These are all great dogs of varying ages , experiences and needs . The one thing they all have in common is they need stable loving homes with families who understand that behavior does not change over night and that bonds take a bit of time to form. I will bet there are many past adopters out there who will attest to the richness taking in a lonely needy homeless dog can bring to your life .

Meet Bear !
Bear is a 7 year old male Great Pyrenees.
He appears quite healthy but as all our wards are will be fully vetted including A 4DX test and brought up to date all immunizations before he leaves us .
Bear walks well on lead and is house trained .
He is timid but warms up quickly .
Bear loves children and has had positive interaction with them .
Bear may benefit from having a female canine friend .
Bear will be available for adoption within the month .

Great Pyr Rescue proudly announces the adoption of Beef !!!
Beef who from this day forward will be referred to as Jake will be living the fine life in Hartland WI with his wonderful family David Simpson and Debbie ( Schmidt).
David and Debbie several years ago had adopted Rollie from us who recently passed leaving a huge void in their hearts and lives .
While no dog can be replaced Jake is working hard at filling that void and this wonderful couple are working equally hard to fill Jake’s world with all things good !
Congratulations David and Debbie !!! And Jake !

Thursday the 18th was vet day for Thelma and Louise .
At 10.5 months old they weighed in at a pathetic 39 lbs each . This was almost certainly due to the worms and Giardia they had arrived with now treated .
They were spayed and given their immunizations just like like their brother a week before them .
They were given a 4 DX test as well only unlike Louise and Lil B Thelma’s was positive for heartworm .
These pups have really gotten to me . . It isn’t even the terrible condition they arrived in it’s knowing they have lived their whole lives starving and without shelter in a 10 by 10 kennel with no cover and never leaving it .
… and yet they are so sweet and so loving . So trusting.
We will need to raise at least $2,000 for heartworm treatment .

Update on the St . James Trio :
Our 3 10 month old pups are coming around !
They have voracious appetites!!
They were treated for Giardia worms and ticks and are now critter free .
Lil B (Beethoven) was neutered and began his immunizations with boosters to follow . The females Thelma and Louisa will be spayed the 18th .
A 4DX test was performed and was negative but the vet feels we need to run another as they were so covered in ticks that we are concerned we could get a positive down the road .
lil B was thoroughly groomed .
He weighed in at a frail 48 lbs !
The pups are comfortable enough to play together while in the playground area . . They are used to collars and are learning about harnesses.
The last two morning all three stayed dry throughout the night .
All three are very welcoming of human contact !
This week they will be separated for brief periods of time slowly transitioning them to their new lives .
GPRW DOES work very hard to place bonded pairs in the same home . However these three exhibit some mannerisms that make us believe they would bond far better with a new family separated from each other . We will work slowly through this transition recognizing how difficult this could be for them handled insensitively .
