Every pet parent should have a basic first aid kit at home. Here's what to keep on hand and why:
๐ฉน Gauze & bandage wrap โ for covering wounds until you can get to the vet
โ๏ธ Blunt-tip scissors โ safely cut away fur or bandaging around an injury
๐ก๏ธ Digital thermometer โ normal pet temp is 101-102.5ยฐF, anything higher needs attention
๐งด Hydrogen peroxide โ can induce vomiting in dogs, but only use it when we advise you to
๐ Benadryl โ always call us for the correct dose first
๐งค Gloves โ protect yourself and keep wounds clean
๐ Emergency numbers โ your vet, nearest emergency clinic, and ASPCA Poison Control (888-426-4435)
A first aid kit buys you time, but it's never a substitute for professional care. When in doubt, call us!
