Sometimes the search for the right horse takes years.

One of our clients had always dreamed of owning a buckskin stallion. He had spent a long time searching for
the right one, waiting for a horse that truly felt special...not just in appearance, but in temperament, gait, and conformation as well.

The very same day we posted one of our buckskin stallions for sale, he made the drive to our farm through a thunderstorm to come see him in person. The moment they met, there was an immediate connection. He fell in love with the horse, loaded him up that very day, and brought him home to begin a new chapter together.

Since then, watching their partnership develop has been incredibly rewarding.
The stallion has started exceptionally well under saddle and continues to prove himself on the trails with a calm and willing attitude. Even more importantly, he has become the kind of horse the entire family can enjoy. He rides him alongside mares and geldings on large trail rides, where he continues to demonstrate the quiet mind, good manners, and dependable temperament that matter so much in a true partner.

Ground work isn’t just something to do before you ride...it’s where trust, patience, and problem solving really start. One of my favorite goals is getting a horse soft and connected from the halter all the way through the back leg. When that whole body is working together, you can feel the horse thinking instead of reacting.

That becomes so important out on the trail, over logs, water crossings, tight spaces, spooky moments… a horse that understands how to slow down, stay connected, and work through pressure is much more likely to stop and think instead of panic. Ground work teaches them to search for the answer instead of looking for an escape.

The trail will always bring challenges, but a horse that’s been prepared mentally and physically has a much better chance of handling those moments with confidence. The little things you practice at home really do show up when it matters most. 🐴
