Let it snow! The Hemlock Herd doesn’t mind the snow - plus it’s the time for eating pine needles! The trails are so beautiful in the winter… Time to book a stay and hunker down in front of a cozy fire - except when it’s time for a hike with the goats, of course.

Winterproofing all of the goats’ watering stations today and while I was not happy to find a leak in one of our heated hoses, Oreo didn’t seem to mind! 😳🤔🤣

This lovely human and friend visited with his guitar yesterday to play for the goats and I was thrilled to capture a few moments of this special interaction. I wish I had taken more video (we had to tend to a minor escape of the big goats) but the curiosity of Harley and Maverick was evident and so sweet. There is ypga with goats… We have art with goats, hiking with goats … how about music with goats?!? Who would come?

Louis! No other goat like him - certainly not as handsome and charismatic (mostly). I miss his flirty days - hence the soundtrack! lol He is up with the “big goats” now, and is finally making friends. I think he’s finally forgiven me for moving him too! Any Louis fans out there?

Newly discovered weird goat behavior! Oreo and his leaf. Any guesses as to what he’s doing? Cleaning the leaf? Dusting the boulder? Giving the leaf some texture as part of an art installation? I am fascinated. Give us your best guess!

For the love of goats...

As a young girl, Meagan Frederick dreamed of being Snow White.....the woodland princess who communicated with the animals and whom the animals adored. Later, that looked a little more like Dr. Doolittle, a little more practical. Mostly because she can't really sing like Snow White. Lacking the skill set for becoming a veterinarian, she informally became the rescuer of all living creatures in her path. Often because animals found their way to her. Kittens dropped from the undercarriage of trucks at a stoplight in front of her car, puppies were discovered roadside in threat of being poisoned, stray dogs laid at her feet on island vacations... not to mention mice, birds, fish. Oh, and goats.

They wandered up the driveway of now, Frederick Farm, just 7 years ago. Actually, HE (Marvin) wandered. For those of you who know Mabel, she is our former sheep finally living with sheep friends that don’t push her around at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary! But we digress. Now home to five very loved (and very spoiled) goats, Frederick Farm is dedicated to maintaining a home and sanctuary to as many goats (and chickens, and dogs) as is manageable (and that Meagan’s husband will tolerate without threat of divorce). No, she did not dream of having multiple goats. But once you meet them and get to know them (and know about the horrors of animal agriculture and why they are in need of rescue and sanctuary) I think you would know why Frederick Farm is now operational and growing! Fully embracing the endearing title, “Crazy Goat Lady”, Meagan welcomes you to come visit Frederick Farm and discover your inevitable love of all things GOAT.
