I got a little creative with Duchess at her last visit 💕 I gave her a Miami trim with carved hearts on her hips!

I'm not really much of a creative groomer, I like classic looks and am addicted to lamb trims. This was a fun new thing to try though, and I think it turned out really cute!

Mazapán's before and after for his regular grooming service ✂️

It's best for dogs to be groomed every 4-8 weeks, depending on the dog's lifestyle, coat, and hairstyle. This cutie gets a short maintenance style because he lives a busy life and gets matted pretty easily. He's such a good boy in the salon!

Luckas is a very cute pomeranian who gets hand scissored every 4-6 weeks or so!

I personally don't trim double coats like this any shorter than what you see here, due to the risk of coat damage, among other factors. They need their coat in all seasons, and seeing as dogs don't sweat through their skin like we do, shaving them doesn't make them any cooler.

Lots of groomers will and do, but I don't. Personal preference 🥰 Just a little reminder for my double coated people as we head into spring and summer ☀️

I missed my anniversary for my grooming career this month. I was 20 years old and put I had experience grooming (I didn't) on a grooming application for Petco. They hired me anyway, because they liked my approach to things.

I had no idea what I was doing and I never aspired to do anything but make a steady living with my job. Didn't have any idea there were certification organizations or grooming competitions and conventions. No idea grooming was anything other than a way to not spend my time working retail, which sounded like a terrible job to me (it still does, I admire the people who do it).

Grooming has been the way I make my living for nearly all of my adult life. Full time, non-stop. You probably wouldn't believe some of the things I could tell you about life as a pet groomer. At some point, I wanted more confidence in my client interactions and I decided certification through one of our organizations was the way to do that.

It's weird to be on my certification journey and think back to the times I just wanted a steady job so I could buy a house someday. Never had dreams to own a salon. Never had dreams to be a master groomer or even a certified one. Those evolved along the way as I met people in my industry and got inspired.

I'm two practical tests away from my International Certified Master Groomer title and I wonder what will inspire me after that. Hooray for inspiration, and this career that I love.

These two are my most frequent and long-term visitors! I've been seeing Kiersen every 2 weeks since September 2021, and Kashera joined her when they added to their family after a previous dog had passed.

They both get full service baths, which keeps them clean, brushed, and their nails well trimmed 🐾

Sweet Emmie comes in once a month for her full service bath 🛁

She gets to see her doggie cousins when she visits, too! (Her humans and their humans are siblings, and they're on a similar grooming schedule).
