Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lauren Dyer to the River Oaks Animal Hospital family!

We are incredibly excited to introduce the newest veterinarian to join our team, Dr. Dyer!

Dr. Dyer is a graduate of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Pack!) and earned her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from UNC Wilmington. She brings a genuine love for both animals and their people, along with a passion for providing thoughtful, compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.

Her professional interests include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, cardiology, and chronic pain management. She especially enjoys getting to know her patients and their families and building the relationships that make veterinary medicine so rewarding.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Dyer enjoys spending time with her husband, Caleb, getting outdoors, photography, and relaxing with a good Netflix show. Her faith is also an important part of her life and helps guide the compassion and purpose she brings to caring for others.

From the moment we met Dr. Dyer, we knew there was something special about her. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and dedication to veterinary medicine fit beautifully with the culture we have worked so hard to build at River Oaks.

We are thrilled to have her on board and can't wait for our clients and patients to get to know her. Dr. Dyer, welcome to the River Oaks family — we are so happy you're here!

Meet Slider! 🐾⚾

If you’ve ever been to a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game, you’ve probably seen one of the most popular members of the team — Slider, the Pelicans’ amazing bat dog! 🐶⚾

The Pelicans just released a great video telling the history of their bat dog program, and we thought it was worth sharing!

We’re especially proud that River Oaks Animal Hospital is the Official Veterinary Hospital of Slider and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. ❤️

Slider has a pretty great job, running onto the field to retrieve the bat after a hit and he’s become a beloved part of Pelicans baseball and the Myrtle Beach community.

We've recently been made aware of a social media rumor that **Dr. Andrea Pennington is leaving River Oaks Animal Hospital.**

We can officially confirm... **this is 100% FALSE!** 😂

Somehow, a well-meaning conversation turned into "Dr. Pennington is leaving," and before we knew it, our phones were ringing, messages were coming in, and some of you were ready to stage a protest. We appreciate the love, but you can all breathe again! ❤️

**Dr. Pennington would like everyone to know:**

🐾 "I'm not going anywhere! I love my patients, their families, and my River Oaks family. I'll be here giving treats, belly rubs, and helping your furry family members for the foreseeable future."

To everyone who reached out because you were worried—thank you. It means the world to know how much you care about Dr. Pennington. We promise that if she ever decides to retire someday (many, MANY years from now 😅), you'll hear it from **us**, not the neighborhood rumor mill.

💰 Where Have All the Pennies Gone? 💰

The U.S. Mint has stopped producing new pennies, and many banks—including ours—are no longer able to provide them. As pennies become increasingly scarce, River Oaks Animal Hospital will begin rounding cash transactions only to the nearest nickel when making change.

Don't worry—credit cards, debit cards, CareCredit, and other electronic payments will still be processed for the exact amount.

Please help us welcome the newest member of the River Oaks Animal Hospital family, **Dr. Alexys Le Roux!**

Dr. Le Roux grew up in Chandler, Arizona, and attended Colorado State University for both her undergraduate studies and veterinary school, graduating in 2019. Over the past seven years, she has practiced both small and large animal medicine, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for helping pets live their healthiest lives.

Her professional interests include internal medicine and preventative care, and she loves building long-term relationships with pets and their families. For Dr. Le Roux, one of the most rewarding parts of veterinary medicine is helping pet owners become confident advocates for their animals through personalized care and education.

When she's not caring for patients, you'll likely find her spending time with her family, horseback riding, competing in ranch versatility shows and sorting clinics, or checking another mini golf course off her Myrtle Beach bucket list! She also shares her home with three horses, two dogs, and four cats.

We are incredibly excited to have Dr. Le Roux join our team and know that our patients and clients will love getting to know her.
