For over 50 years, Big Lake Humane Society has been a place of hope, compassion, and second chances for pets and the people who love them. What started in 1972 as a small, volunteer-run rescue has grown into a vital community resource dedicated to helping animals live happy, healthy lives in loving homes.

🐶 More Than a Shelter
As a community-funded non-profit, Big Lake Humane Society goes beyond adoption by supporting the entire community by providing:
🐕 Low-cost veterinary care through Big Lake Community Animal Clinic
🐈 Spay/neuter services, surgeries, and dental care
🐈‍⬛ Free pet food assistance for families in need
🐩 Training programs and community education

🥣 Pet Food Pantry
Since opening in 2022, the pantry has helped keep pets in their homes by providing supplemental food to families facing financial hardship. The Pet food Pantry runs every Thursday from 12 PM - 5 PM at the shelter (2640 Marquette). ID and proof of low-income status is required.
