The farm team had their first bouquet day! We’ve been looking forward to this since we first put in our flower field this spring. Today we were able to harvest, arrange, and deliver 23 beautiful bouquets to the hospital. We love knowing that our flowers are brightening patient rooms🌼💚

That’s a wrap on Session 1 of Farm Mini Camp! We had so much fun with these awesome campers on the Farm last week. On day one we learned all about botany: we planted broccoli microgreen kits, potted up flowers, and made wildflower seed balls. Day two was all about farming: we planted out okra seedlings and bean seeds, cared for the plants in the education hoophouse, and harvested radishes. On day three we put it all together and focused on food: we made fresh-pressed juice together using produce from the farm, and made pancakes using corn flour from . Every day, we tasted new foods, explored using our senses, tried out new skills, and most of all, had fun making new friends! We can’t wait for Sessions 2 and 3!

Enrollment for Sprouts Camp (ages 4-7 with an adult caregiver) is open for July 9-11 and August 6-8. The dates for Seedlings Camp (ages 6-10) will be listed and enrollment will reopen soon.

The Education Hoop is open and ready for summer campers! This spring, thanks to the hard work of our entire farm team and many generous volunteers, we moved and reconstructed our hoophouse, installed raised beds, filled the beds with compost and soil, and created what has become our Education Hoophouse! There are 20 themed beds inside the hoop and around the farm that are specifically designed for kids to interact with, including a sensory garden, edible flowers, a butterfly garden, and many varieties of fruits and veggies for kids to see, touch, smell, and taste! Summer campers will get to plant out the remaining beds, learn how to care for the plants, and harvest and taste test the food they produce! We’re so excited for all the learning and fun that will take place here this summer.

Calling all campers! A few spots remain in our first session of Farm Mini Camp coming up June 11-13!

🌱Sprouts Mini Camp🌱: Ages 4 – 7 with adult caregiver I 9:30 – 11:30 am I $40
Sprout campers must be fully potty-trained and turn 4 before their first day of camp.

🌿Seedlings Mini Camp🌿: Ages 6 – 10 I 1 – 4pm I $70
Seedling campers must be comfortable using an adult-sized bathroom on their own and be ready to attend camp without a caregiver.

Campers will spend time outdoors connecting with nature, getting their hands dirty, and learning about where our food comes from. We’ll explore the themes of botany, agriculture, and nutrition through fun, hands-on games and activities and by tasting lots of fresh veggies! 🌶🌻

A little peak around the farm this week🌱
The whole team got their hands dirty the last few days! We managed to implement a new flower field, flip our high tunnel to summer crops, put together a delicious farm share, see the first monarch of the year, seed our first round of summer greens, and host a seedling sale!
We're feeling very grateful for this amazing team we have, and all we can accomplish when we work together. 🌼🦋

Meet the Farm team! 🪻🐞 Farmers Savannah and Tim are going into their 4th season with McLaughlin Grows, and their first season as a part of Trinity Health. They’ve been involved in everything farm related since 2022 and are the determining factor on how the farm looks, what it produces, and how it produces it. Our team is incredibly grateful for the hard work, endless knowledge, and heart they put into their work each day!🌷You can catch them at the Muskegon Farmers Market the first Saturday of every month (see you tomorrow!), volunteer with them at the farm, or learn about some of the practices they use at our workshops! 👨🏻‍🌾👩🏻‍🌾
