In 2026, NCF & New City Neighbors is partnering with MSU’s Organic Farmer Training Program to offer a West Michigan cohort for their new GR based learning site. The application deadline has been extended until December 15th - scholarships and transportation support exist for accepted learners.

Our farm team had the opportunity to volunteer at Community Food Club in Grand Rapids last week! We had so much fun portioning out food that would later be stocked on store shelves. The food club is a non-profit, member-based grocery store with an amazing mission to help combat food insecurity and inequity in Kent County and we are so glad that we got to contribute and collaborate!

Farm share members received DOUBLE the produce this week! This once-a-year double share was designed with the upcoming holiday and family gatherings in mind. 🍂🦃 We are so grateful for our farm partners, farm share members, and Muskegon community!

The first snowy harvest day of the season❄️
Farming doesn’t stop with the snow! This week we’ll be digging out carrots, celery, kale, and more from the snowy field and covered high tunnel to go into farm shares. The snow adds an additional challenge, but underneath it the crops are ready to go.🥕

Thank you to the awesome volunteers from Farm Bureau Insurance Michigan and McCleve Agency - Farm Bureau Insurance who planted out over 600 daffodil and tulip bulbs around the farm yesterday! They made such quick work of bulb planting that they even had time to harvest some carrots too. Thanks to their hard work, we'll be able to start donating cut-flower bouquets to patients in the hospital as early as March next year! 🌷💐

SNAP Update: No new SNAP benefits are being issued in November due to a pause in federal funding.
✅ But Double Up Food Bucks is still here to help. If you have SNAP dollars on your card, you can still:

✔️ Earn an unlimited match per day
✔️ Spend previously earned Double Up bucks — no expiration
❄️ Plus, you can now use Double Up for frozen fruits & veggies (no added sugar, salt, or oil) at all participating locations.

These changes are in effect until December 31, 2025.

Despite the cold, wind, and rain, we enjoyed spending time with farm share members at our potluck yesterday! 🎃🍂 We had delicious food made from the farm's produce, as well as bread and donuts from Hodgepodge Bake Shop.

It might be fall but we're already thinking about spring! 🌷🪻 Our entire farm team spent yesterday planting the first tulip bulbs of our new perennial flower field which will start to bloom in Spring 2026! We are excited to be adding lots of new flower varieties to our cut-flower bouquets next year, including tulips, daffodils, ranunculus, specialty dahlias, and more!

We had so much fun making dried flower wreaths last night at our last workshop of the season! Everyone made such beautiful and unique creations. While we're sad to wrap up the 2025 season, we're so excited to do more family-friendly workshops like this next year!

Fall field trips are so much fun! 🍂🍎 We're so glad that the Kindergarteners from RP Central Elementary could join us on the farm. Students got to taste lots of vegetables, learned how to save seeds in the flower field, and planted fall crops in the Education Hoophouse!
