Program Spotlight: Prison Pup Program 🐾

One of the most unique and impactful parts of Canine Support Teams is our Prison Pup Program.

Since 2002, CST has worked with select prison participants to help prepare future service dogs for their life-changing careers. Dogs entering the program receive advanced training while participants gain valuable skills, confidence, purpose, and hope for the future.  

The result is a true win-win: highly trained service dogs ready to support people with disabilities, and a program that positively impacts everyone involved along the way. ❤️🐕

This Memorial Day, we honor those who served and remember the sacrifices made by so many military members and their families.

We are deeply grateful for the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who answered the call to serve our country. Their commitment continues to inspire us and reminds us of the responsibility we all share to support those who have given so much.

At Canine Support Teams, it is a privilege to serve veterans and witness the strength, perseverance, and unwavering spirit they bring to every chapter of life.
It is an honor to be a part of their stories.

Thank you to Houdini for joining us today at in San Pedro. As you can see, he worked very hard and got tuckered out. The weather has been perfect, though.

We have completed day 2 at Fleet week. Boat Tours, vendor booths, food trucks, and loads of activities for the family await all those who visit The Pacific Battleship Center at 250 South Harbor Blvd, San Pedro. Come on down and join the festivities. While you are there, stop by to say hello to Canine Support Teams. We are there, sharing our mission and educating the community.

Not every hero wears a cape, some wear a vest and move quietly beside you. 🐾

At Canine Support Teams, service dogs are trained to do more than assist with daily tasks. They help restore independence, rebuild confidence, and bring stability back into moments that once felt uncertain.

What starts as training becomes something much deeper: trust, partnership, and a life lived with more freedom and less limitation.🐕‍🦺✨

Those eyes. That trust. That moment where you’re reminded exactly why we do this.

Every day, these incredible dogs are learning, growing, and preparing for something bigger than themselves—to one day stand beside a veteran or individual with a disability when they need it most.

It’s the early mornings, the training sessions, the small wins… and moments like this that make it all worth it.
