Every pet parent deserves real choices-and small businesses deserve a fair shot. But in many industries, especially pet death care, โpreferred vendorโ policies quietly make that harder than it should be.
Many veterinary clinics who offer aftercare options are required by ownership groups, operational policyโs, or preferred-vendor agreements to use a corporate pet cremation provider instead of a trusted local small business. This causes families to lose access to these local providers as many times, they are not even aware they have a choice.
End of life care is deeply personal, and families should have clear information and should be presented with all options, without being funneled into a single corporate provider by behind the scenes contracting.
These types of forced partnerships are happening all over the country and have not only caused good small business to lose customers but sadly, some have even had to close their doors because of it.
This would never fly in the human side of aftercare, so why do we allow and accept it on the pet side!?
There are a few things we can do to bring awareness and educate pet parents of their rights with choosing whatโs best for them and their fur baby even with their aftercare.
Pet parents do have a choice and they should not be forced into using whatever company their veterinary clinic uses.
As pet parents, itโs okay to ask your vet clinic what aftercare provider they use and to request a local provider or other options if you are not satisfied with what they are offering.
I encourage per parents to call different providers in your area and do your own research in place of just going off of what your vet hospital tells you.
Furever Loved is always here to help in your time of need. If your vet doesnโt work with us, you can specifically request us for pick up from your vet hospital, directly from your home, or you can bring your fur baby directly to our office.๐๐๐ฝ๐พ
