Celebrating our team this week with different color themed days presented the perfect opportunity for us to help spread awareness about a really important topic.

💜Our team at Alpine Animal Hospital is glad to join Reach of Cherokee County for their annual purple day to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month and let survivors know that they are seen, they matter and that we stand with them. 💜

Meet Our Newest Veterinarian — Dr. Abbigael Gutierrez!

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Abbigael Gutierrez to the Alpine Animal Hospital team! Dr. Gutierrez will be joining us next week, and we can’t wait for our clients and their furry family members to meet her.

We asked Dr. Gutierrez to tell you a little about herself, and here’s what she had to say:

“My name is Abbigael Gutierrez, and I have been a veterinarian since 2019. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from North Dakota State University in 2015 and then graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. I practiced both small and large animal medicine in North Dakota for six years before the mountains called my husband and me to North Carolina.

During my career, I have enjoyed sifting through the puzzles of medicine and the challenges of surgery, but I truly live in the moments where I can bring even a small semblance of comfort to one of my patients. An animal’s unwavering and unconditional love never ceases to touch my heart; they deserve all the care and love in the world.

I look forward to meeting your furry family members!”

We are thrilled to have Dr. Gutierrez joining our team and are excited about all she will bring to Alpine Animal Hospital.

Help us give Dr. Gutierrez a warm Alpine welcome! If your pet is due for a wellness visit or you’ve been waiting to get an appointment scheduled, now is a great time to get on the calendar.

Call us at 828-837-6115 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Gutierrez!

"They're just getting older." ❤️ Or are they?

It's easy to assume that slowing down is simply part of aging, but many pets are actually living with pain that can be treated.

If your dog doesn't jump into the car anymore, hesitates to climb stairs, sleeps more than usual, or seems less interested in walks or playtime, they may be telling you something. Cats are even better at hiding discomfort, so changes like jumping less, avoiding the litter box, or becoming less social can also be signs of pain.

The good news? Your pet doesn't have to "just live with it."

Today's veterinary medicine offers more options than ever to help pets stay comfortable, active, and enjoying the things they love. From arthritis management and weight support to medications, rehabilitation, and other therapies, your veterinary team can create a plan tailored to your pet's needs.

🐾 If you've noticed changes in your pet's mobility, behavior, or activity level, schedule an appointment with your veterinarian. A simple conversation could make a world of difference in your best friend's comfort and quality of life.

Growing older is inevitable, but living in pain doesn't have to be.
