Taking care of Buddy and his sister Ivy for a bit. Ivy doesn't like outsiders so she goes ghost and Buddy doesn't allow his family to brush him so I always make sure to do that for them.

My new friend, Dozer ❤️

Some dogs have nails that automatically grow down instead of straight out. This needs to be monitored because at some point, it is likely the nails will curl into and through the paw pad which is going to warrant a vet trip. And it will be considered a minor surgery instead of a nail trim. I have seen this a few times and the vet trip ends up being anywhere from $500 to 800 depending on species and complexity.

Most dogs should receive a monthly nail trim but there are some, such as high energy breeds that can go as long as 2 months. Until I have seen your pet a few times on the regular, to gage how fast their nails grow, a good schedule is just a guess.
