We had a fantastic pre-event check-in at Stowe Cider (thanks Grant) today, walking the route and getting everything set for Sept. 12! 🐾 with numerous consulting canines in attendance, both the venue and walk are dog approved!!

Our event committee, made up of dedicated board members and staff working side by side, has something pretty spectacular in store for our community. It takes a team, and we’re so grateful for partners like Stowe Cider who help us pull this off.

Just a reminder that we STILL need kitten wet food donations! We have a lot of hungry mouths to feed both in and out of the shelter!

PSA: Help Keep Our Cats Safe!

We’ve received a ton of reports of missing cats lately, and we want to take this opportunity to remind everyone about a few simple things you can do to help keep your furry family members safe.

Microchip your cat. Collars can come off, but a registered microchip can help reunite you with your pet if they’re found. Make sure your contact information stays up to date!

Spay/neuter your pets. This can help reduce roaming and the risk of your cat wandering off in search of a mate.

Whenever possible, keep your cats indoors. Indoor cats are protected from traffic, predators, fights, disease, poisoning, and getting lost.

Want to give your cat some outdoor time? Consider safer alternatives like:
- A secure catio or enclosed outdoor space
- Harness and leash training
- Supervised time in a fenced or enclosed yard
- Never leaving your cat unattended outside

A few more safety tips:
- Keep windows and doors securely screened/closed.
- Give your cat a breakaway collar with an ID tag.
- Keep a recent photo of your cat on hand.
- Check that your microchip is registered and your phone number/address are current.
- If your cat does go outside, try to establish a consistent routine and bring them in before dark.
- Ask neighbors to check sheds, garages, barns, and other enclosed spaces if your cat goes missing.

Most importantly, please don’t wait until your cat goes missing to take these precautions. A little preparation now can make a huge difference later.

Please share this PSA with other pet owners. Let’s help keep our community’s cats safe and get every missing kitty home!
