Does anyone have it on their hearts to give an old dog a home ?
I was asked to care for this Dog because her family had to move unexpectedly back in January. I got her back into good health and other than some old dog bumps and such, she's doing well.
She is good with all people, dogs, cats, chickens....... everything I have her around ! She will chase the horses on the fence line when they are playing around.
She is housebroken and very quiet.
Here's the problem. She is going after my pigs when I'm not around. She has injured them for the 4th time yesterday while I was in Ocala. I am expecting a litter any day now and I don't have a way to contain her. She is quite large and I don't have a big kennel. I just can't have her get a hold of a piglet.
I have kept in contact with her previous owner and she does know that Hazel couldn't stay here. Last week she told me that she moved somewhere that she couldn't have her and asked me to take her to a shelter. I feel like she deserves better than that. We have actually grown quite attached to the old girl but our farm is our livelihood and we can't have her doing damage or even killing an animal.
Anyone willing to love her for the time she has left? She is at least 10 years old and possibly GP/ lab mix?

sometimes I get to watch wildlife do its thing when I'm on the job. This turtle was digging right outside a horse stall at one job and these baby chicks hatched in a nest in the corner of a barn at another. Gotta Love what I do

Enjoying some of the beautiful animals on this 92 acre ranch. It's a big job but so fun with one exception. First day on the job, all the cows broke loose and weren't where they should have been when I got there. Needless to say, it took hours to round them all up that night and a couple hours the next morning to set them all up in a different pasture. I won't be adding cow wrangling to my resume anytime soon. oh! and just to make it that much better, this was during an absolute downpour complete with thunder and lightening so we were soaked and miserable

God Bless my Husband, Reuben McVey, for coming straight from work to help and not getting home until 10pm for a gourmet dinner of cereal :)
