Meet Milo! He in fact IS a short, wide ham who’s looking for a home! He’s a shelter staff favorite, how could he not be? Just look at him!

Milo is around 2 years old! He weighs 40 pounds, but don’t let that fool you. He definitely wouldn’t be tall enough to get on any rides at the fair. He’s just “buff.”

Milo is already neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped! He also seems to be friendly and social with other dogs.

Milo would LOVE a visit from someone who would be interested in giving him his forever home!

Joe came from our partner shelter in St. Mary. He waited months in the shelter and is still waiting for a home. 🥲

Joe has been waiting for a home for 4 months now. He's a high energy yellow lab that needs a fenced yard and other dogs to keep him moving. He's great with other dogs and very friendly with people. He's located at our facility in Bogalusa, LA

UPDATE ON THE INJURED DOG FROM MORGAN CITY:

Meet Barb! Barb was found roaming yesterday and posted by a few people in Morgan City.

This morning, Barb went to our partner parish shelter in Franklin, St. Mary Parish Animal Shelter. They wasted no time getting her in for a vet check, due to her head laceration.

Barb is surprisingly young, only around 5 months old! We aren’t sure what happened to her, but other than her laceration, she is in perfect health. She’s a spunky, active puppy

All thanks to Mardi Paws, an amazing organization, Barb will be undergoing a sedated laceration repair in the morning! Shortly after that, she will be going to rescue. She’d love a short term foster home until then!

I can neverer show enough gratitude to Mardi Paws. Barb will now get all doctored up and move on to find a forever home thanks to them. ❤️

A few weeks ago, we were contacted about an adorable lemon beagle. He was found as a stray, very skinny and was never reclaimed. His finders held on to him for a few months, and even got him UTD on shots, but could no longer keep him.

He ended up going to our partner shelter, and we continued to network him. They took excellent care of him while he waited for a rescue.

Hokie’s Hounds Beagle Rescue ended up with a foster offer from a lovely woman who was willing to understand Chance’s needs and so far, he’s done beautifully at her home. Foster offers save lives.

Deep South was able to fund Chance’s neuter to assist his receiving rescue! The shelter brought him to get neutered for us. Other than some dental disease, he is in good health.

This is a beautiful example of teamwork, and we’re so grateful to be the advocate between receiving rescues and our shelter. We can’t wait to see Chance’s progress ❤️💕

Please continue sharing this in hopes that the person who has done this will be caught. This is horrific. Thanks to our sheriffs department for advocating for this sweet girl and seeing to it that someone is caught for this horrific act.
