🌡️ HEAT ADVISORY TODAY 🌡️

With today’s heat index expected to reach 109°F, conditions can become dangerous for our pets in just a matter of minutes.

🐾 Keep your pets safe by following these tips:
💧 Make sure fresh, cool water is always available.
🏡 Keep pets indoors as much as possible during the hottest part of the day (10 AM–6 PM).
🚶 Walk dogs early in the morning or after the sun goes down.
🐾 Test the pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🚗 Never leave a pet in a parked car, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a vehicle can become life-threatening very quickly.
😎 Provide plenty of shade and good ventilation if your pet must be outside.

⚠️ Know the signs of heatstroke:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red or pale gums
• Weakness or collapse
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Confusion or stumbling

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke:
❄️ Move them to a cool area immediately.
💦 Wet them with cool (not ice-cold) water, especially on the belly, feet, and armpits.
📞 Contact your veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary hospital right away.

Your pets depend on you to help them stay safe during extreme temperatures. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and give your furry family members a little extra TLC today! ❤️🐶🐱

We hope you and your families have a fun, safe, and memorable Independence Day!

As you celebrate, don’t forget that the holiday can be stressful for our furry family members. Here are a few quick reminders to help keep them safe:

🐾 Keep pets indoors during fireworks.
🏷️ Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date.
🍔 Keep holiday foods, alcohol, and desserts out of reach.
🎇 Never bring pets to fireworks displays.
🌡️ Provide plenty of fresh water and avoid prolonged time in the heat.

If your pet becomes frightened or experiences an emergency over the holiday, please contact Emergency Pet Hospital of Craven-Carteret at (252)444-1399.

Thank you for trusting us with your pets every day. We are grateful to be part of such an incredible community.
