With Easter approaching, we want to keep our pet parents aware of possible risks to their pets during the holiday weekend! If your pet comes into contact with any of these items, they should be evaluated by a veterinarian! These items can cause a variety of symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, obstruction, muscle tremors, liver and kidney abnormalities and many others.

DELAYED OPENING

Due to early morning road conditions, we will be delaying opening, Thursday February 20th, until 10:00am, allowing our staff to arrive safely, care for in-house patients, and ensure the safety of our clients. We will not have a message on the door or on the answering machine, so please be patient with us as we triage our messages. We will return all calls and messages ASAP in order of urgency. We have spoken to all clients or left messages via text/email for all our appointments before 10am with instructions about rescheduled times.

❤️🐾 Being a foster is an amazing opportunity for many situations. If you are retired, a senior, just starting out on your own, or you feel you cannot financially afford to take on the responsibilities of a personal pet for 15+years, but still want the companionship of an animal, then please consider being a foster. Do not let thoughts of "foster failing" keep you from giving these animals a chance at finding their forever homes. What you offer them in the interim, allows them to love and trust again. You are their stepping stone to a forever. And when they finally find it , you get to do it again for another deserving animal. It is truly a gift you are giving and trust us, it is a gift you are receiving 🐾❤️.

❄️🐾 We apologize for all the updates, but we were just informed the Emergency Pet Hospital of Craven-Carteret will be CLOSED tonight for staff and clients, due to road conditions, which are expected to worsen overnight. We are not sure if Swansboro Emergency will have a doctor and/or staff tonight, so it is important to call them at 910-839-5934 before heading that way. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our clients. We will be open tomorrow, however, please keep in mind, our doctors and staff will be on the roads very early in the morning, which are expected to be just as hazardous in places. There's a possibility we may be operating with a limited staff, so please be patient with us. Also, work in appointments will be held for our clients, emergency and very ill only, due to both emergency hospitals being closed. We will be triaging the best we can. Again, thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding! ❄️🐾

❄️❄️❄️Update: We are closed! Happy Snow Day! Please be safe entering our hospital tomorrow. We were only able to clear out a small path, as it continued to snow on us. We are north facing, so it will most likely ice over tonight. We will be working on it early tomorrow, but please be cautious!!! ❄️❄️❄️❄️We will be closing early today, to get our staff and patients that are here, home safely. We will update with an exact time once we have an exact time. It has also been brought to our attention that Swansboro ER is not operating at 100%. Please still contact them, as their staffing may change, only if you need them. They may be able to help answer some common questions. The Emergency Pet hospital of Craven-Carteret, will have a doctor on staff, starting at 6pm, so any emergency your pet may be having, please go there! They can be reached at (252) 444-1399. Please give any emergency hospital a call first, to let them know you are coming, so they can try to be ready for you, so they can help triage, and also determine if you are experiencing a true emergency. Zion is a sweet giant who is a people-pleaser above all!! Loves to meet new people and is gentle when doing so. He has been great with all of the dogs he has met and is gentle with the foster's dog. Of course, he will need proper introductions to meet other dogs.

Zion has been in foster for 5 weeks; in that time he has put on some much-needed weight and muscle and is now a healthy and happy boy. He is a great walker and will be someone’s shadow when he is adopted as he likes to be right by someone’s side at all times. He would be ideal for a work-from-home owner or retiree. He loves his big bed, but honestly he loves the couch more. He is house trained and lets his fosters know when he needs to go out by going to the door.

Zion’s gift is that he has a very calming influence on people, and people who are stressed or anxious gravitate to him because he helps put them at ease. He goes out to socialize with his fosters to places like the coffee shops and always instantly makes friends.

Zion is neutered and UTD on vet care, vaccines and preventatives. He is currently being fostered in Eastern NC. We adopt NATIONWIDE but require adopters to travel to the foster home with their current dog/dogs (to ensure they will be friends) to pick up. Out of respect for our foster family's time and privacy, we do NOT arrange meet and greet without an approved application on file.
