Three weeks ago, we made the heartbreaking decision to post our farm dog Felicity for rehoming.
Not because she wasn’t a good livestock guardian dog. In fact, it was the opposite.
Felicity took her job very seriously. She loved her animals, loved her people, and wanted to protect them at all costs. But rescue life is unpredictable, and with new volunteers, visitors, deliveries, and strangers constantly coming onto the property… we realized it wasn’t fair to ask her to continuously adapt to an environment that went against her instincts.
We knew she would thrive best in a quieter home with fewer unfamiliar people coming and going.
One of our volunteers shared her post in a local community Facebook group.
And then something amazing happened.
Someone commented:
“I’m actually interested. I have chickens and goats that need protecting. Can we visit to meet her?”
