We had a special visit at the clinic today from Christine and Tiffany with Elevation K9 Training!
They gave our team an inside look at the incredible work they do in canine obedience, detection and tracking training.

We also got to meet Hendrix, who wowed us with his fun “bang!” command (yes, he plays dead!). We also met Rue, a talented little Chihuahua who can actually find hidden money! Their skills were so impressive, and it was a blast seeing them in action. They also brought OUR favorite SCAR!!! These amazing ladies have taught him so many manners!!

Thank you, Christine and Tiffany, for taking the time to share your knowledge and bring your amazing dogs to our clinic!

Meet Dingo!
A Pawsome Pup with an Important Job!

We wanted to congratulate Dingo on recently completing his certification as an explosives detection canine at Charlotte Douglas Airport. Alongside his amazing handler Jorge, Dingo helps keep travelers safe every day.

When he’s off the clock, Dingo loves spending time with his four-legged brothers, Ziggy and Mongo (who’s a retired explosives detection dog himself!)

We absolutely love it when Dingo and Jorge come to visit us at the clinic!

If you’re flying through CLT and happen to spot Dingo, be sure to say hi 👋🏻 🐾
But remember, no petting while he’s working, he’s got a very important job to do!

Scar is still looking for his FUREVER HOME!! He is doing well in training and has loved meeting people! He likely needs a home with older children as he does get overstimulated with kids running around and can knock them over when they are small! He does well with other dogs big and small! We recommend a home with no cats! He needs a family who will want to take him out and about and also be active in his current training with Elevation K9! WHO REMEMBERS SCAR???

A year ago Scar came to us a very sick and skinny boy! He weighed 42 pounds the day he walked in our clinic and now weighs 74.5! He was diagnosed with multiple issues and was so weak we weren't sure he would make it. His owners signed over to us since financially they were not in a position to help him. Well here we are!!! One year later and we have us one happy, ornery pittie looking for his forever home!! He does have some medical conditions that will require life long prescription food, supplements and medications. If you are truly interested in him please contact us and we can go over these and what we are offering to help with that!!

Scar is a sweet snuggly boy, but he's definitely got the pittie orneriness! He can be cautious when meeting new people but once you have gained his trust you are in! We have not tested him with children or cats, and are currently starting to do introductions with other dogs to see how he does with them. He has been living in the clinic this past year and we haven't seen any dog aggression issues, most times when a dog is around he play bows and acts like he wants to play. Like any other dog he can have some resource guarding when it comes to toys or bones, but doesn't have an issue when you take his food bowl away, etc. He's stubborn just like most pitties but does respond well to training and authority. We have worked as much as possible, with him living in a clinic, on potty training and he does pretty well. I feel like if he is in a home and able to be regularly let out he will do well. We have noticed he tends to gravitate more to women and he can more cautious of men. I believe this is likely secondary to his past, but will say that once he knows the male and trusts him he's fine. We have a male tech who has been with him since we got him and he does wonderfully with him. Again I think it's just gaining his trust and then he is fine. If you are looking for the perfect snuggle buddy who would love to go on walks, hiking, etc please contact us!!

As we end Vet Tech Appreciation week, we just want to take a moment to thank THE BEST vet tech crew there is….OURS!! We have an amazing group of people who we can never thank enough for doing what they do everyday!! We love our vet techs!!

For anyone looking to help please consider donating!!!! This is one of our clients!!

So far we have sent about 8 trucks of supplies of water, food, diapers, adult diapers, etc. that have been delivered. I purchased and sent to WNC approximately 100 gallons of gas for chainsaws, generators and other equipment.

I am currently working on about 200-300 individual sealed bags/kits that consist of female personal products, first aid products, small flashlights, individually wrapped medicine, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, body wipes, hand sanitizers and individual packet of water that is ready to drink and use immediately. I am also putting together individual sealed bags for the animals, dog food, cat food and small animal food.

Unfortunately, we are seeing first hand that the smaller areas haven't had any help except from individuals at this point so there is still a great need for many items. We will be taking a load into new areas again starting next week.
