Wishing Ted Millsap a speedy recovery. He tripped and broke his ankle. Will be having surgery Tuesday. Sounds like Bob Knight is healing up from his knee surgery and continuing with physical

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Another year to have so much to be grateful for. An extra, special thanks to those who have helped/ offered help this past week as well while I recover from foot surgery. Hope everyone has a blessed day, Heidi.

Montrose football team wins 56-27. They have advanced to the 4A State Championship semi-finals. Montrose will host Palmer Ridge this upcoming Saturday! Go Hawks!

Please remember to keep your vaccinations up to date on all of your animals; cats, dogs, horses, cattle, etc. Tally and I made the trip on Tuesday to the Western Slope Animal Hospital to get hers. She has been such a great working dog and always just rode on our truck beds but age is also creeping up on her. I made her a fancy leash and she loaded up in my old car! If your horses are Not vaccinated do so Now. Can’t remember the date? then you are probably way overdue or need a booster anyways. Spay & neuter as well. Too many unwanted animals out there. Stay safe everyone. We owe our animals a lot; take care of them, Heidi.

Please share, stay home, disinfect and keep new comers quarantined!

EHV-1 has everyone in the horse world on high alert right now, and understanding the facts can help bring clarity instead of panic.

What many people don’t realize:

EHV-1 spreads through:
• Direct horse-to-horse contact
• Respiratory droplets
• Contaminated surfaces
• Shared water or feed buckets
• Human hands or clothing that touch an infected horse

This is why limiting exposure helps — but eliminating all risk is impossible.

So while deciding what events to attend is important, it’s just as important to remember that every person’s situation, barn setup, and risk tolerance is different.

What we can all do:
• Practice good biosecurity
• Wash hands & change clothes after visiting other barns
• Don’t share buckets, hay bags, or grooming tools
• Monitor temperatures daily
• Stay home if your horse seems “off”
• Respect others’ decisions, even if they differ from yours

At the end of the day, we all love our horses and want to protect them. Fear doesn’t have to turn into division.

Be safe. Be smart. Be kind.

Another fantastic WRCA Finals in Amarillo this week; it was the 30th Anniversary. If you haven’t been it’s a great show and the kids Ranch Rodeo is worth the trip alone. Great show. Heidi
