Today, we recognize moms - for their hard work, their wisdom, their kindness, and every other gift we've received from the maternal figures in our lives. Happy Mother's Day! 💐

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, so we wanted to sneak in a post before the month ended thanking all of our amazing volunteers.

Our volunteers feed our dogs their carefully crafted meals - a task that itself takes four hours every day! They maintain the cleanliness of our enclosures, process our meat donations, guide our tours, and walk miles every Saturday during our dogs' weekly enrichment walks. And most important of all, they LOVE each and every dog here at our shelter. We wouldn't be able to do this without our volunteers, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone who donates their time at TWP.

And for this adorable picture of our retired ambassador, Beaore, we thank for donating her skills as a photographer!

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who donated during the fundraiser for our newest intake. Our name sponsor for this sweet senior girl chose Pagané, a name steeped in Bulgarian history and folklore. According to legend, Pagané was an exceptionally beautiful high priestess who was loved by Khan Asparuh, the founder of Bulgaria. We love that our Pagané was given such a thoughtful, meaningful name!

Initial introductions with Nanook have been going well, and we think the bond between these two mellow seniors will continue to blossom with time. On the other hand, her connection with our volunteers has been almost immediate, and we are all already smitten with this super-sweet girl who thrives on attention and wants to be hand-fed at every meal. Pagané will receive the best care that we can provide for her throughout her golden years, and we are incredibly grateful to all of the donors who helped us create this happily-ever-after.

April, with the warmer weather and wildflowers blooming along our highways, is a wonderful time of year to visit Texas Wolfdog Project and meet our regal, majestic, and utterly photogenic wolfdogs. We love inviting professional and hobby photographers to take high-quality photos like these of our resident wolfdogs, all of whom really embody the noble spirit of the wolf.

Our sweet senior boy Nanook came to us twelve years ago alongside a female wolfdog, Luna, with whom he shared an incredible bond. We were devastated when we lost Luna at the age of ten to a brain tumor. Still, there is a silver lining to every loss in rescue: the chance to save another life. And in this situation, it gave us the chance to do something particularly special.

When we found out about a senior low-content female who needed placement, we were hopeful she could be Nanook's new best friend. This beautiful girl was left adrift after her owner's passing, and we are grateful that her remaining family members were able to keep her safe for several months while we completed a new enclosure. We are also thankful to our volunteers for making the drive to Oklahoma in order to bring this sweet girl back to TWP and to every person who donates to our organization. It's because of these donations that we can do incredible things like saving senior animals, who are at the highest risk of not finding placement.

In order to fund the highest quality of veterinary care for our newest resident, we are offering a new and special opportunity for sponsorship. For $250, one of our followers will be given the chance to name this beautiful girl and be permanently listed on our website as one of her sponsors. Board approval of the name is required.

We also deeply appreciate donations of any amount, even if you are uninterested in becoming her naming sponsor. Every cent goes directly toward the care of our animals. You can donate via this post, via Venmo (), or via PayPal ().
