Texas Wolfdog Project and Shelter Inc. is an all volunteer and donation based rescue/adoption facility dedicated to saving as many adoptable wolfdogs and northern breed dogs in the State of Texas as humanly possible. This will be based off of available foster homes, suitable adoptive homes and of course, financial resources for veterinary care, transportation and basic care of the residents of Tex

as Wolfdog Project. Please let it be known that we are not a sanctuary and aim to take in animals that are socialized and adoptable. We support responsible ownership and public education, as well as promoting education for other rescue groups, shelters and Animal Control facilities concerning proper wolfdog identification, evaluation and care. If you're looking to pick up a good dog - maybe literally - please consider adopting our boy Bane!

Bane is our resident Velcro dog and one of our most adoptable animals. He thrives on attention from anyone and everyone, including kids, and he would love to be placed in an indoor home where he gets to constantly spend time with his family. Uncle Bane has been a great help with raising our two high content puppies, Chilly and Pepper, and he would be a wonderful addition to a home with a young pup. When it comes to adult dogs, he can be a little selective - he doesn't like being bossed around - but he would probably be happy as an only dog as long as he's receiving enough attention from his people.

Are you looking for a special lady?

Our beautiful girl Harper has overcome a tragic past to bond very closely with the volunteers she knows and loves. She'll melt into a puddle whenever you enter her enclosure, or ask you to join in a game of chase! Unfortunately, as sweet as she is with her people, we have yet to find a dog she is equally fond of - and we've tried quite a few prospective suitors. We would love to place Harper with a family with no other dogs and where she won't be left alone for huge blocks of time. Unlike her brother, Karuna, she is not destructive indoors, so if you work remotely and want a companion to nap by your desk while you're in meetings, Harper might be perfect for you.

This , meet Karuna!

If you've ever been on one of our tours, you probably remember this boy - he's one of the friendliest dogs we have at the shelter. Karuna adores attention from friends and strangers alike. He's also one of our premier water-loving pups, and one of our most polite dogs on leash. While Roo responds nicely to verbal requests, he is destructive when left unattended indoors, so the best home for him will have a large outdoor enclosure with a pool or tub to splash around in - as well as a female doggy friend to help him burn his limitless energy.

Long time, no post! We have been VERY busy finishing up two new enclosures and, even more exciting, welcoming back former TWP woofer Katniss! Katniss was adopted from us 4 years ago and has returned to us due to unexpected life changes for her family. We're SUPER grateful for the years she spent enjoying life in a home and that she's back safely with us.

Before she left, Katniss was a notorious feed beast, and though she may be older and floofier now, she's powering through our treats and pumpkin like a Shop vac. Please consider sending Miss Katniss a Welcome Back Snack!
