I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and it was probably overzealous of me to aim for 4-5 litters next year, so I’m planning for 3 instead. Part of ethical breeding involves breeding according to a waitlist and I simply don’t think at this point in time that my waitlist can support more than that. So the pairings/timings are as follows:

Madeleine x Tyke to be paired in late December, pups born in mid January, pups ready to go home towards the end of February/early March
Wolf Alice x Jack to be paired in early April, pups born in mid April, pups ready to go home towards the end of May/early June
MadeleineTyke Pup x Asta to be paired in late July, pups born in mid August, pups ready to go home towards the end of September/early October

If my waitlist changes, I might be able to support more litters later in the year but this is where I’m sitting now.

Otho is looking a bit old these days, but it’s okay because HE IS old 🥰 He’ll be 2 on 9/7 and I’m so happy about that. He has some mild arthritis but has been doing wonderfully with regular metacam. He has also developed cataracts over the past couple days, but it’s nothing that’s going to slow him down - I might just have to simplify his enclosure a little. Because he’s getting older, I installed a pedometer on his wheel too to keep track of his activity levels.

Some other updates here - It’s looking like Tyke and Wolf Alice will be joining the hamstery here in late September, but this is still in the works. I can’t even express how excited I am, and I’m already coming up with names for Wolf Alice’s future litter 👀 I received a very generous donation tonight from someone who has sadly decided to get out of owning hamsters, and I am happily going to put so much of it to use. Anything that I do not use will be donated to rescues or shared with my friends 💜 I am also planning on posting some other things from my longstanding hoard of hamster supplies for sale this weekend, especially hides and wheels suitable for dwarf hamsters or mice as I’m getting out of mouse keeping and don’t see myself back into dwarf hamster keeping anytime soon after Grunk and Churro. I also plan on selling my 3 medium Niteangel Bigger Worlds. All items will be pickup only, I don’t need any shipping craziness added to my plate right now what with playing musical cages and my puppy Ghost being a walking vet bill 😅

Charlie was an absolute doll tonight. She’s such a cheery girl and gave me the little pick me up that I needed 💜

I’ve got some not so great updates and I unfortunately expect that to be the trend for a bit as quite a few of my hamsters are seniors and/or on medical watch. I very sadly found Angel passed away in her sleep tonight, and my ASF Theodore rapidly developed MnPV (which is incredibly common in ASFs) and is going to need to be put to sleep this week.

That leaves me with Otho, Charlie, Sesshomaru, Asta, Jack, and Madeleine as far as my Syrians, Grunk and Churro as far as my robo’s (both on medical watch), then Dove, Iris, Nami, Johnny, and Richard as far as my mice. I will be welcoming Tyke and Wolf Alice home next month and then Tyke and Madeleine will be paired for the SpongeBob litter at the end of the year though, so there is a bright side.

If you got an email invite from me, it is NOT me. I was sent something by someone yesterday and my account became compromised when I tried to click on it, thinking it was a legitimate event. Everything should be secure now - I’ve changed my password and logged out of every device, reported to Google, etc. - but I am getting messages asking if I sent an invite and I DID NOT. DO NOT CLICK ON IT, change your passwords, and check which active devices are logged into your account.

Posting a huge throwback to one of my old rescue girls named Void, more commonly called Vi. I got Vi back in late 2021 and she passed in 2023 after getting to live the good life. She was my first female Syrian and had so much personality.

I want to explain how my store is going to work, as I know I’m always saying how busy I am and I know how crazy it seems to add one more thing. First and foremost, I want my store to be practical and affordable for customers and feature safe, quality products. I have seed mix, a spray bundle, coco husk, coco fiber, and various Teklad lab blocks planned for now with the idea to expand later.

My seed mix is formulated by me and is prepared, weighed, and packaged by hand. All of the sprays are inspected, prepared, and packaged by hand. The coco husk and coco fiber are prepared and packaged by hand. The Teklad blocks will be inspected and packaged by hand once I can actually get my hands on some - this could take some time. I am working with Snow White’s Rescue Cottage on that end but Teklad blocks are definitely still going to be a later addition to the store.

The spray bundle, coco husk, and coco fiber are going to be prepped and packaged ahead of launch and then will not be relaunched until it makes sense to do so. That said, I’m planning on centering relaunches around when I don’t have litters planned or when I foresee having a bit of extra free time so I can dedicate the time needed to prep - it’s just me here doing all this hammy madness 🤪 But the good news is that by prepping and packaging everything ahead of a launch, shipping should be relatively fast! My seed mix and the Teklad blocks will be nearly constantly available as long as I have enough stock for myself and will likely only have short windows where they might not be available while I await more stock.

I’ve been quiet for about two weeks here, which isn’t totally unusual, but I promise it’s been for a good reason!

It’s not the first time I’ve talked about it, but last year was very rough. I won’t detail it all again, but the TDLR is that I was dealing with a lot of mental and physical health strains, our oldest dog Bear was diagnosed and being treated for a rare form of cancer before we unfortunately had to put him to sleep, and I had to leave my last job and start over somewhere new.

2026 has truly been about rest and recovery, and I’ve been grateful for the reprieve and finding a zest for life again. Now the hamstery has some direction once more, I’m feeling motivated to try my hand at selling some supplies small-scale, and we ✨finally✨ felt ready to welcome a new addition to our family. We drove 14 hours this weekend so we could bring our puppy Ghost home. You can see the little heathen in his full glory on the second slide.

All this said, replies are coming but please be patient. I need about a 10 day grace period to reply unless it’s an emergency. Weekends are typically when I have the most free time to reply to any inquiries. My zoo aside, I work 40-45 hours a week and still have a house, relationship, personal needs, etc. to attend to. I love the excitement everyone has been showing, but I’m only one person and this is just a hobby. I really want to avoid a burnout again and the best way for that is for me to keep expectations realistic. I appreciate any understanding! 💜
