Meet Phoebe, an adorable one-year-old Dachshund mix who came to us from Animal Control. She’s super sweet, loves attention, gets along great with other dogs, and doesn’t seem to mind cats. Phoebe still has lots of puppy energy and isn’t yet potty trained. She weighs just 20 lbs. and is up to date on vaccinations, treated for fleas and ticks, and tested negative for heartworm. She’s scheduled for her spay and microchip on Tuesday, after which she’ll be available for adoption. Marmon Renew celebrated their Spirit Day today, with volunteers out in the community making a real difference. They put in hard work pressure washing our outdoor kennels and scrubbing cat cages, ensuring the spaces were clean and welcoming. Their dedication and effort were truly appreciated, and the impact they made did not go unnoticed. Thank you so much Marmon Renew!

We have plenty of adorable kittens and cats looking for loving homes! These are just a few of the sweet kittens ready for adoption. By adopting one or two, you’re not only giving a pet a safe and happy home but also helping us make space to rescue more animals in need. All are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick treated, and dewormed. Come in to meet them Tuesday-Friday 11am-4pm. This is Miley, a 1-year-old female Terrier mix weighing 25 pounds, who was found with a gunshot wound in her front leg and shrapnel in her back. Becca from Warren County Animal Control stepped in and took her to a vet. Miley had to have her leg amputated but has recovered amazingly well. Becca has been fostering her during her recovery and says she is also doing great with her potty training! Miley still needs to be spayed and microchipped in a few weeks which will be covered by the rescue. She is a wonderful dog that is super sweet and just wants to be on your lap. 🐾 TNR PROGRAM UPDATE — LOOK WHAT WE’VE ACCOMPLISHED! 🐾

We are incredibly happy to share the progress of Western Illinois Animal Rescue’s TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program! ❤️

So far, 167 cats have been approved/treated, and we have invested approximately $15,500 into this program! Our goal is to reach 250 cats fixed/vaccinated by the end of 2026 — and we are committed to doing even more to keep this momentum going.

💙 Every $100 donated can help fix ONE cat.

Think about the impact that one fixed cat can have. A single female cat can have multiple litters and produce dozens of kittens in just a few years. By fixing her today, we are preventing future litters and reducing the number of unwanted, homeless and community cats for years to come.

And this is exactly why we need YOU.

We want to continue this program so we can make a real, lasting impact in our communities. Our rescue is full and we are seeing firsthand how overwhelming the number of cats in our communities can become. TNR is one of the ways we can address the problem at its source — before more cats and kittens end up needing rescue.

🐱 This program is available for Warren and Henderson Counties ONLY.
🐱 It is for feral and community cats, NOT personally owned cats.
🐱 Donations go directly to WIARS’ dedicated TNR fund and are used to help get community cats fixed.
🐱 We pay 100% of the cost of fixing/vaccinating these cats

We are so proud of what we have accomplished so far, but 167 is just the beginning.

Our goal is 250 by the end of 2026. Then we want to keep going.
But we cannot do it without the support of our community.

We are not able to accept any dogs, cats, or kittens at this time. We’ve been swamped with people bringing in kittens and flooded with calls from those looking to surrender their pets. While we wish we could take in and help every animal, it’s just not possible—our small rescue has its limits. Our volunteers and staff have been working diligently to care for all the animals we currently have. Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

Bella’s puppies will reach eight weeks of age on August 29th, at which point they will be ready to transition to their new homes. We will coordinate with the puppies' foster mom to schedule times for approved applicants to meet the puppies.
