White-Gates Farm Equine Rescue Our goal is to rescue and rehabilitate abused, abandoned and neglected horses, to regain their trust, and find them safe, loving, permanent adoptive homes.

To provide a sanctuary where some may live out the remainder of their lives with dignity and peace. We, White Gates Farm Equine Rescue, are registered with the state of Alabama as a domestic nonprofit organization and with the IRS as a 501c3 Corporation making your donation, charitable and a tax deduction. Blessed with the land my grandparents blood, sweat and tears went in, we work closely with

our local shelters and neighboring Rescue’s, trying to save as many horses and farm animals as possible. While we have the space to shelter a few, we can not continue to feed them without your help. Horses arrive here abandoned, abused, emaciated, neglected hooves, hurt and very scared. Our main goal, here at White Gates Farm, is to show them love, feed, care and compassion during their stay on our farm while finding them all permanent and forever homes. We have a mare and 2 geldings available for adoption as a companion horse. Could they be ridden…possibly with some time and ground work. But we get calls all the time for a “companion horse”, then they get to the rescue and meet the horse and say well I really want to ride sometime. A companion is a non-riding equine—often elderly, physically in good shape or not, usually unridden for some time due to trauma or their previous living conditions but kept to provide emotional support, herd security, and social interaction for another horse. Because horses are herd animals, they suffer from isolation; having a buddy is essential for their natural instincts, proper sleep, and psychological well-being. These horses deserve a second chance, third chance, etc.… they just want to be loved, get a few treats a day, will be a free lawnmower for that overly grown grass, they are the perfect therapist to listen to all your troubles and they never really expect anything in return and are the most forgiving 1000 pound animal you could ask for…please make an appointment to meet these guys. Adoption fee starts at $800…They are all up-to-date on shots and Coggins, but yes, they each have their own little quirks just like you 🤠

Our newest intake/a surrender! Sometimes people come on hard times and have to downsize.. It is certainly not the Horse’s fault, but they are usually the first to go. Thankfully, we were able to take in this 21 year old thoroughbred, Pinocchio. He does have anhidrosis and several other medical issues we will need to address but we have him scheduled for the Vet and will know more later. He is due for all shots, coggins, teeth float, etc… so he will be in quarantine for a while. Huge thanks to Tori McMahon-Johnson who volunteered her new farrier skills and gave him a good barefoot trim this morning. 🙏

These much needed rainy days help you appreciate the sunshine! All the animals still waiting to be fed and I’m just so grateful for land that drains off quickly, for individual paddocks and/or stalls to feed in, for areas that feel safe for the horses, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbit and yes, even the dogs 🥰

I cannot begin to say how grateful we are for this amazing group of women that continue to bless the community in everything they do and we are so proud to be the recipient this time. Queens with Dreams put on the most exciting pool noodle barrel race you’ve ever seen and collected a ton of food for Wags and Whiskers!!!
