We have a mare and 2 geldings available for adoption as a companion horse. Could they be ridden…possibly with some time and ground work. But we get calls all the time for a “companion horse”, then they get to the rescue and meet the horse and say well I really want to ride sometime. A companion is a non-riding equine—often elderly, physically in good shape or not, usually unridden for some time due to trauma or their previous living conditions but kept to provide emotional support, herd security, and social interaction for another horse. Because horses are herd animals, they suffer from isolation; having a buddy is essential for their natural instincts, proper sleep, and psychological well-being. These horses deserve a second chance, third chance, etc.… they just want to be loved, get a few treats a day, will be a free lawnmower for that overly grown grass, they are the perfect therapist to listen to all your troubles and they never really expect anything in return and are the most forgiving 1000 pound animal you could ask for…please make an appointment to meet these guys. Adoption fee starts at $800…They are all up-to-date on shots and Coggins, but yes, they each have their own little quirks just like you 🤠
