🐾 What’s good, y’all?! It’s me, Braxton! 🐾

Foster Mom calls me Brax, Bubbers, or when she really means it, Braxton Theodore. You can also call me Big Sexy… I mean, you see the pics ? 😏

I’m a distinguished 5-year-old gentleman who quickly learned that life outside the shelter is pretty glorious. I love relaxing in the yard, chewing sticks and bones, chasing the morning bunnies, and FOOD… definitely food. 😂 A slow feeder is my friend!

I’ve discovered that the grass makes me a little itchy, but we’re getting that cleared up. I’m also waiting to have a mast cell tumor removed from my foot, but I’m not letting either of those things stop me from enjoying my new life!

I’m great in my kennel and even go in without being asked. I’m also working on “wait” and “place” and doing a great job learning the ropes.

I’ve got the big head AND big heart of a bully, so I’d love a bully-savvy family who understands my breed and won’t let me get away with too many shenanigans. Teenage kids would be best because sometimes this handsome hunk moves like a runaway bowling ball. 🎳😂

Mostly, I’m a chill, goofy guy ready to find out just how good the forever life can be. 🥹

Think I’m your guy?

🐾 HEY Y’ALL 🤠 , I’M SVEN! 🐾

Or, as Foster Mama calls me… Svennie McDooty Cutie Patooty. 😖😂

Foster Mama loves me VERY much and would keep me, but if I stay forever, she won’t have room to help the next dog who needs her. So apparently it’s time to find MY FOREVER! 🏡

Despite my Minnesota-sounding name, I’m actually a Texas boy. I was brought to Minnesota through witness protection after being part of an abuse case, giving me the chance to get far away, heal and start over somewhere safe. ❤️‍🩹

I arrived a hot medical mess, but after 3 major surgeries AND heartworm treatment, I’m finally feeling good, getting spunky and ready to LIVE! I’m only about 3–3½ years old!

Here’s the Sven scoop:

I LOVE people and bond HARD with my humans. I haven’t lived with kids, but respectful older kids who understand boundaries could be a good fit.

I don’t necessarily need to be your one-and-only! Before months of medical restrictions, I had fun with my foster dog AND cat siblings.

I have mild vision impairment, so I need humans who understand dog body language, proper introductions and how to help me when I’m unsure. I can also be stubborn it apparently comes with the breed. 😂

And then there are my quirks. Blankets, shirts or pillows? I may make them my suckling comfort item. Small objects? Sometimes I think those look like snacks. 🤦‍♀️ Keeping tempting things picked up is important, but I’ll happily TRADE my treasures for a yummy treat! 🍪

I’m a REALLY good boy who has been through a whole lot in a short time.

I need someone who understands me, gives me structure and continues showing me I’m safe. In return, you’ll get a loving, goofy boy who will adore you with everything he has.

🐾 I escaped my past. I’ve done the healing. Now I just need my forever.

🐾 MEET COCO 🐾
SHE’S IN NEED OF A FOSTER OR ADOPTER!

Sometimes dogs find their way back to us in ways we never expected. ❤️

After nearly a year of not knowing where Coco was or if we would ever see her again, we finally got the call that brought her back into our care. There were a lot of emotions and questions, but more than anything, we are incredibly grateful that Coco is SAFE and back with us.

Now it’s time to focus on what comes next. 🥹

Coco is a beautiful 2-year-old Johnson Bulldog weighing around 70 lbs. This big brindle-and-white girl is basically an oversized puppy who thinks she belongs in your lap. 😂❤️

🐾 A little about Coco:
• 2 years old
• Spayed, microchipped & vaccinated
• About 70 lbs — ideal weight 75–80 lbs
• LOVES her people & is a total cuddle bug
• Walks nicely on leash
• Generally ignores other dogs on walks
• Has previously lived successfully with multiple dogs
• Cats unknown
• Kids 12+ due to her size & playful nature

Coco previously lived with five other dogs and did well. Her current introductions have been more challenging because one resident dog isn’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat 😂, so any canine siblings would require appropriate introductions.

She’s still a puppy in a BIG body playful, goofy, affectionate and unaware of just how strong she is! We’re looking for an experienced, confident adult handler, and adults should be the ones walking her.

Coco is also still working on potty training and does best with a consistent schedule.

Her current home stepped up when she desperately needed somewhere safe to land, but with three resident dogs already, it cannot be permanent.

After everything it took to get Coco safely back, we want to be thoughtful about where she goes next. We would LOVE to find a foster or adopter within our extended circle , a friend, friend of a friend, or someone connected to our rescue community so we can continue being part of her life. ❤️

Coco needs someone to meet her, fall in love with her, and give her the life we fought so hard to get her back for.

🐾 Could that be you?

If you can’t foster or adopt, PLEASE SHARE. Coco’s next chapter is waiting. ❤️🐾

🐾 Hiiiiiiii! I’m Slinky! 🐾
Your new best friend… hopefully. 💙

Foster Mom sometimes calls me Clyde, and honestly, I kinda like it. There’s a story behind that, of course. 😂

I was borned 12 whole weeks ago, and I’m already such a good boy that I’ve earned ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ membership in the Clean Kennel Club! Yep , I’m pretty impressive.

Even though I’m just a baby, I’m not obnoxiously energetic or super mouthy. I’m actually a pretty easygoing, happy little dude who just happens to be OH-SO-TUUUUTE, with long lanky legs and the best floppy mits. 🥹

My favorite things include:
🐶 Playing with my Foster Sister
🐾 Following my OG Foster Brother around
👃 Taking in ALLLL the smells in the yard
🪵 Chewing on sticks
🍽️ And MEALTIME… nom nom nommmmm

Basically, I’m just a joyful, goofy little guy learning how to be the very best doggo.

And now I’m officially in the market for my furever family. 🏡
So… whaddya think, Could it be YOU?!

Get your Kleenex out🤧🥹!

SECOND CHANCES REALLY DO COME FULL CIRCLE. 🫂
DROOPY AKA BUDDY IS HOME.

This is one of those stories that reminds us exactly why second chances are such a huge part of Pit Squad Rescue.

Over 5 years ago, Droopy aka Buddy came into our rescue while his human was struggling with addiction.

Buddy was adopted almost immediately by an amazing man who loved him and took incredible care of him for more than five years.
We will forever be grateful for the life, love and stability he gave Buddy.

Recently, his adopter’s life took a major turn, and the next chapter of his life meant he could no longer bring Buddy or his other dog, Moo, with him.

So, as we always try to do for our dogs, Pit Squad stepped back in.

We posted Buddy and Moo looking for their next homes.

And then we got an email…Buddy’s original mom saw our post.

She knew immediately. THAT WAS HER BOY. 😭

She reached out and shared her story with us. After losing Buddy all those years ago, she got clean. She rebuilt her life. And through all of those years, she never stopped thinking about him.

Today, she has her own place.
She has a job.
She has her recovery.
She has stability for herself and her human child.

And yesterday…

SHE GOT HER BOY BACK. 😭💙

After more than FIVE YEARS apart, Buddy and his mama were reunited.

Second chances are deeply woven into the mission of Pit Squad Rescue. Not only for the dogs who come through our doors, but for people, too.

The majority of our board members are in recovery ourselves. We know firsthand that someone’s hardest chapter doesn’t have to be their last chapter. We believe people can recover. We believe lives can be rebuilt. And we believe in giving people and dogs the opportunity for a second chance.

More than five years ago, addiction separated a woman from the dog she loved.

She fought for her recovery.
She rebuilt her life.
Buddy was loved and cared for along the way.

And somehow, after all these years, their paths found each other again.

This is recovery.
This is rescue.
This is redemption.
This is what SECOND CHANCES look like. 💙

Welcome home, Droopy.

Your mama never stopped thinking about you. 🐾😭

Wow. 9,000 people following along, supporting our mission, loving our dogs, and believing in second chances. 🐾💙

Pit Squad Rescue would not be what it is without this incredible community behind us. Every share, every comment, every donation, every foster, every adopter, every volunteer, and every person who simply cheers our dogs on matters more than you know.

Rescue can be incredibly hard. There are days filled with heartbreak, exhaustion, and wondering how we’re going to keep going and then we’re reminded that we aren’t doing this alone.

Because of YOU, dogs who were once unwanted, forgotten, abandoned, or overlooked have been given another chance to know what it feels like to be safe and loved.

9,000 followers may be a number but behind that number are 9,000 people helping us make a difference.

Here’s to more lives saved, more happy endings, and many more second chances.

We couldn’t do this without you. 🐾

We honestly cannot believe we are making another one of these posts.

Our beautiful girl Praline has now spent 107 DAYS — over 15 WEEKS in boarding.

That’s approximately $3,745 in boarding costs alone, and while we will continue fighting for this girl, this simply isn’t where we want her spending her life.

Praline isn’t in boarding because she’s a bad dog.

She is there because she needs something that has been incredibly hard for us to find: a foster or forever home where she can be the ONLY PET.

Praline is about 3½ years old and 45ish pounds of pure love. She absolutely LOVES her people and is incredibly sweet and gentle with kids. She wants to be your shadow, hang out with you, play some fetch, get all the love and finally have a home to call her own. ❤️

She has been working with an experienced trainer and has had plenty of time for us to learn exactly what she needs to be successful.

🐾 Only pet — no other dogs or cats
🐾 Loves humans of all ages
🐾 Sweet and gentle with children
🐾 Food motivated
🐾 Loves fetch
🐾 Wants to be close to her people
🐾 Needs someone willing to give her the structure, consistency and love she deserves.

Somewhere out there is a person who doesn’t have other pets and has been thinking about fostering or adopting.

Maybe you’ve never fostered before.
Maybe you’ve been waiting for a sign.
Maybe Praline is your sign. ❤️

Even if you cannot take her, PLEASE SHARE.

One share could finally reach the person we’ve been searching 107 days for.

Let’s get Praline into a forever HOME. 🏡🐾

🚧 INTAKE TEMPORARILY CLOSED 🚧

This is an announcement we don’t want to make at all but for the last couple of months, we’ve been having some hard conversations about the future of Pit Squad Rescue. After a lot of thought & conversations, we’ve decided it’s time to temporarily close intake and focus on restructuring, rebuilding, and the dogs already depending on us.

Rescue has changed, and so have the demands that come with it. We’ve spent years trying to say “yes” whenever possible , a lot of times stretching ourselves and our resources further than we should.

Right now, we need to make sure we’re doing rescue well, not just doing more.

This is NOT goodbye and we are NOT closing. We’re taking some time to strengthen our squad, support our fosters, get our current dogs into their forever homes, and figure out what the next chapter of Pit Squad looks like.

You’ll still see us at events, fundraising, sharing our adoptable dogs and fighting for the dogs already in our care.

Sometimes taking a step back is how you make sure you can keep moving forward.

We’re still here. We’re just under construction. 🐾💙

Today was absolutely rough on so many of us . It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating loss of our sweet boy Deacon. 💔

When Deacon came to us, we knew he had a long road ahead. He was heartworm positive and needed multiple knee surgeries, along with other medical care we were working through one step at a time.

About a week ago, Deacon went in to begin the process for his surgeries, but his pre-op testing showed that his heart levels were abnormally high. His veterinarian made the decision to postpone surgery and start him on medication in hopes of getting his heart into a safer place.

Unfortunately, this afternoon his foster noticed that he wasn’t feeling well so we immediately made an emergency appointment to have him seen.

We are absolutely devastated to share that Deacon was in heart failure, and there was nothing more that could be done to save him.

Our Coordinator Kari held him, loved him, and stayed right there with him as he took his final breaths. And if there is one thing that gives us even the smallest amount of comfort tonight, it’s knowing that Deacon left this world knowing LOVE. ❤️

He knew love from his foster families.
He knew love from all of us at Pit Squad Rescue.
He knew love from his Texas rescuers and our incredible partners at Bark who loved and nurtured him until we could get him here.
He knew love from every person who donated, shared his story, prayed for him, transported him, cared for him, and rooted for his future.

It truly took a village to save Deacon.

And while this is not the happy ending that any of us wanted and certainly not the ending we fought so hard for but his story still matters.

He was no longer abandoned.
He was no longer alone.
He was ours. He was loved. And he knew it.

Run free, sweet Deacon. 🌈🐾
No more heartworm. No more bad knees. No more pain.

You deserved so much more time, buddy. We are so incredibly sorry we couldn’t give you that but we hope you knew just how many people fought for you and how deeply you were loved.

You will never be forgotten. 😭
