☀️🚫 Thinking about shaving your dog for summer? You may actually be making them HOTTER!

Many pet owners believe shaving helps dogs stay cool, but for double-coated breeds, their coat is nature’s air conditioning system. The undercoat helps regulate body temperature by keeping them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Why you shouldn’t shave a double-coated dog in summer:

❌ Removes their natural insulation against heat
❌ Increases the risk of sunburn and skin cancer
❌ Exposes sensitive skin to UV rays and insect bites
❌ Can cause hot spots and skin irritation
❌ May permanently damage the coat, causing patchy or uneven regrowth
❌ Makes it harder for the coat to regulate body temperature properly
❌ Does NOT stop shedding—the undercoat will still shed!

Common double-coated breeds include:
