Dog Training is about establishing a communication system between you and your dog. By using the principles of operant and classical conditioning, the focus is shifted from what the dog did wrong and correcting it with punishment to what the dog did RIGHT and rewarding it with praise, food, toys and anything your dog may love. By ignoring, managing, preventing and redirecting the wrong, undesirable behaviors, your dog will learn to make RIGHT, more desirable choices. Positive reinforcement is not only a more effective way to train your dog than the use of punishment, but it makes for a more enjoyable and fun way to train for both you and your dog. We are here to teach you, the owner, how to properly train your dog for the behavior you desire from simple sits, downs, loose leash walking, to helping resolve behavior issues such as house breaking, jumping, barking, and nipping. Whether you need basic obedience, want to train for competition or just want to have fun with your dog we have a class for you. Private and group classes are available in north and central Brevard County. We offer Basic Obedience, Advance Obedience, All levels of Agility, Tricks and CGC training.

Tuesday’s Training Tip:

Training isn’t just for home, it’s for everywhere and anytime.

This weekend Alwaiz and I went to an event. Nothing that he was in, but we needed to go. He felt this was a very boring thing, to just be there doing nothing.

Do nothing though is very important. As other dogs walked by and even played by him, we worked on his “doing nothing” behavior. And he ROCKED it.

If we want to take our dogs in public, we need to make sure they are ready to just hang out, relax and sometimes, do nothing. This too needs to be taught. Don’t just focus on loose leash walking and recalls, focus on teaching your dog to settle too.

DID SOMEONE SAY LURE COURSE?!?! 🐕💨

Bark in the Park 2026 is bringing a four-legged fan favorite to the festivities… a DOGGY LURE COURSE! 🎉

Get ready to watch those ears fly and tails wag as pups put their speed, agility, and enthusiasm to the test!

Our SPCA of Brevard staff and volunteers will be running this exciting enrichment activity, giving your pups a chance to burn some energy while having a BLAST!

🐾 1 run: $10
🐾 2 runs: $15 (because some pups just can’t get enough!)

Even better? Proceeds from the lure course will directly support the homeless shelter pets in our care. So your pup gets to have fun while helping other animals in need! ❤️

I had a super fun afternoon with students in the veterinary technician program of Eastern Florida State College. We did a clicker training lab about training with positive reinforcement and how to help teach dogs to think and learn new skills.

We had 5 great dogs and 18 fabulous students eager to learn and have fun doing it.
