Meet Buddy! 🐾
Breed: Lab Mix
Age: ~3 years old
Weight: 60 lbs
Energy Level: Moderate

This sweet 3-year-old Lab mix is the perfect size for a house or apartment. At 60 lbs of pure love, Buddy is looking for his forever home where he can be your loyal shadow and work-from-home office buddy.

Personality:
Buddy is happiest when he's by your side—whether you're working at your desk, relaxing on the couch, or taking a walk.

While he loves his downtime, Buddy also LOVES his daily walks. He's got just the right amount of energy for someone who wants a walking companion but doesn't need a marathon running partner.

Good with:
- Kids ✓
- Calm/chill dogs (he currently lives with a senior Lab) ✓
- No cats ✗
-fostered near Fitchburg, Wi

Training & Behavior:
- House trained ✓
- Does great free-roaming in the living room when alone (not a fan of crates)
- Working on leash skills—he can walk nicely but gets excited and pulls when he spots squirrels or other dogs or smells something interesting
- Working on manners (greetings)

A bit skittish around men initially, but warms up eventually and will seek out attention once comfortable.

Buddy's Ideal Home:
Buddy is searching for a patient, loving family with a female primary caretaker who can be his person. His perfect match would be:

- Someone who works from home or is home frequently (Buddy thrives on companionship)
- An owner committed to continuing his leash training—he's strong and needs consistent guidance to polish his walking manners

If you're looking for a devoted best friend who will greet you with tail wags, accompany you on walks, and spend every possible moment by your side, Buddy is your guy!

He just wants to love and be loved 💙

With a little patience and continued training, this sweet boy will blossom into the most loyal companion you could ask for.

•••Lets talk fostering with a family•••

I don’t think many families realize how beneficial it is to foster an animal. Not only for the animal but for the family. There are many lessons that are taught during the time of fostering.

You teach your children to love.
You teach your children responsibility.
You teach them to respect life.
You teach your children how to let go.

Most importantly you teach your children how to be selfless.

• My son Mason was around 8 years old when we started fostering and volunteering. He fell in love quickly. He wanted them all. One of our very first fosters I actually had the papers filled out to adopt but I couldn’t sign them. As much as I loved the puppy we weren’t ready, he wasn’t ready. He had much more to learn as did I. Boy was he mad at me. However if I did adopt her, what was I teaching him? We found her a forever home and I can admit, it wasn’t easy at first.

We continued to foster. We continued to find homes for them all. However after each adoption it became easier for him. He was learning to be selfless and to help someone in need. He started to become excited for the new homes that we’re presenting themselves for our fosters. I knew he was ready then. So when it came time, I gave him the option of adopting one of our fosters. He gladly accepted and named her Maddie.

Because we didn’t cave, we didn’t give up, and we continued to help, he has learned to love, let go and the importance of it all.

Most importantly he HAS learned to be selfless.

Fostering and volunteering has given our family so much more than what I had been expecting. What it gave us was life lessons that can be only taught and not bought. So if you are unsure about it, I urge you do it. Not just once, but a few times. Don’t give up, your children and your foster need it.

🏃‍♀️🐾 Where are my high-energy, active families?!

S’mores is about 6 months old, a mix of German Shepherd, Siberian Husky, and American Pit Bull Terrier. He came up from Texas as a tiny pup and is already 60 lbs (and still growing!)—this boy will be big!

What you need to know about S’mores:

✨Full of puppy energy—he’d thrive with a yard and doggy playmates
✨Dog-friendly and cat-curious (he wants to play, not chase)
✨Potty trained + knows basic commands from obedience training
✨LOVES treats, bones, toys, and walks pretty well on leash
✨Great with kids, though his size/energy makes him better suited for older ones
✨Up to date on vaccines & preventatives, neutered, healthy & happy

He’s a total sweetheart who wants to be with his people, so his crate training will need some continued work.

If you’re looking for a big, goofy, lovable pup to join your crew—S’mores is your guy! Available for adoption through Brown Paws Dog Rescue

Fostered near Verona, Wisconsin.
