Looking for a calf sounds easy, but until you’ve been all over 100+acres on horses and on foot of bluff, tall grass, ditches through springs, hillsides thick with trees for two days , its one of those moments you feel completely defeated and certain a calf is gone(dead). Only to come back at 6am the next morning to check another cow close to calving to see said missing calf (since Sunday) up with mama fine 😳😑! On a side note we see lots of beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the life we’ve chosen and sometimes you can get some pretty cool pictures!

Having livestock isn’t always fun! Most of the time it’s chaos and absolute s**t show, when you plan on something being simple! 🤣🤷‍♀️ that’s just part of it! Tonight’s episode started at 9:20pm-ish with our sweet Cotton starting to go into labor. Shes still progressing slowly by 10:30. By 11 she’s in sheer panic, screaming and flopping down, and we got feet coming out not in the right position. Its stuck and shes panicking! i spent the last hour trying to get its legs back in to twist baby. Located head pushed it back foward, found front feet and pulled. Most of the time by now baby has passed but….. when things go right, they go right, it’s alive and Cotton is doing ok! My arms feel like noddles, I’m covered in all things goat, and feel like mosquitoes have drained all blood from my body, 🤣🤷‍♀️ but I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else at midnight!
