🚨 PSA for Cat Owners 🚨

We had a big, handsome boy come in for an exam yesterday with a very serious issue. His symptoms? Frequent trips to the litter box, crying while trying to urinate, and only producing small amounts.

For those who may not know — this is an emergency, especially in male cats. Urinary blockages can become life-threatening very quickly.

Radiographs showed a significant number of bladder stones causing a partial blockage. After attempts to flush and relieve the obstruction, our doctor determined that a perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery was the best option for him 🐾

He is now on the road to recovery ❤️‍🩹. This case had a good outcome because care was sought in time — but not all do.

⚠️ Watch for these warning signs:
• Frequent litter box use
• Straining or crying when urinating
• Little to no urine production
• Lethargy or hiding

If you notice any of these symptoms, don’t wait — seek veterinary care immediately. Acting quickly can save your cat’s life.

Let’s spread awareness and keep our feline friends safe. ❤️

Big week for this little guy 🐶! From his initial exam and bloodwork to an echocardiogram to ensure he was safe for surgery, Geoffrey has been such a champ every step of the way.

After being medically cleared, yesterday was his big day—he got a nose job (stenotic nares surgery), bilateral eye repair (entropion), neuter, and a scrotal ablation.

Now it’s all about rest, healing, and lots of love. Wishing this sweet pup a smooth and speedy recovery as he gets closer to finding his forever family. We’re so grateful for our rescue partners who go above and beyond to give these amazing animals the best fresh start. 🐾💛 Rocky Mountain French Bulldog Rescue

Update 🐈🐱🐾

A lot of you have been asking about the kitties who used to greet you and wander around our old location 🐈‍⬛

During the move, some of our amazing rescue partners and friends stepped in to foster many of them and help find their forever homes. We’re so grateful for that support. A number of our feline friends did make the move with us, though!

Our new space is great, but it’s not quite as “kitty-proof” as the old one. For now, they’re staying in a cozy sunroom we’ve set up just for them. They’re safe and cared for, but they definitely miss all the love and attention they used to get—and we know many of you miss them too 🩷

That’s where you come in. We’re looking for volunteers and friendly faces to spend some time with them. Even a little bit of your time can make a big difference for these sweet cats.

If you’re interested, or know someone who might be, please reach out and we’ll share the details 💕

We’re also looking for help making the building more cat-friendly. If you’re handy or enjoy projects like that, let us know

Recently, we said goodbye to two very special souls.

Percy truly made himself at home with us, after he was found as a stray and never claimed. He was one of our longer term kitties and many will remember him as our cat that claimed the front counter as his favorite resting spot, greeting staff and visitors alike in his own calm, watchful way. He loved sitting on laps and gave the best head boops.

Gamma first came to us intact and in need of a dental - we were hopeful we could get him feeling his very best. Despite our efforts, his bloodwork never improved the way we’d hoped. Through it all, he remained gentle and trusting. Some of his favorite pasttimes included yelling at us for treats and drinking out of the toilet.

Despite us doing all we could to treat their separate ailments, over time, it was decided it was in their best interest to help them cross the rainbow bridge. They were surrounded by love, spoken to softly, and cared for every step of the way.

Gamma and Percy left paw prints not only on our hearts, but on many of our clients and volunteers as well. We are grateful to have been trusted with their care in their final chapter.

Run free, sweet boys. 🌈🐾

This cute boy, Gaston, came in for a neuter and a dental today. So grateful that we are able to provide these services to our rescue partners to continue their life saving work. Who can resist those rolls and ears? He and many others are available for adoption through Utah Friends of Basset Hounds
