It’s the season… for TICKS!
I’m sure you’ve heard it from your neighbor, your friend, and even better, your veterinarian, that the ticks are REALLY bad already! And it’s absolutely TRUE! The exposure to ticks is all year round. They do not hibernate in the winter and die off during a deep freeze. Ticks are resilient and they’re finding their way around all of the seasons but spring and summer is when they thrive!
Three tick-borne illnesses that are significant to animals & humans include:
🐾 Lyme Disease: carried by the Black Legged Tick/ Deer Tick
🐾 Anaplasmosis: carried by the Black Legged Tick
🐾 Ehrlichiosis: carried by the Lone Star Tick
The only TRUE ways to prevent these illnesses and a tick adhering to your pets is getting them on prevention. Between topicals, chewable and now injections, it is possible to protect your dog and cats from ticks! We carry a few options in clinic and a plethora of options on our online store! Also, a tick on your pet is NOT an emergency. Ticks can be pulled off by pet owners safely. Testing can be done when you need it as well to ensure your pet is safe and isn’t already infected.
