🌡️ Diesel’s Heat Stroke Survival Story 🐾

Meet Diesel — a sweet 11-year-old pit bull who gave his family (and our team) quite a scare this summer.

Diesel simply went for an evening walk and suddenly began to overheat. By the time he arrived at VidaVet, he was in respiratory distress with a dangerously high temperature of 108.1°F and showing signs of neurological distress. 🥺

Thanks to his quick-thinking, compassionate owner and fast medical care, Diesel was sedated, intubated, and treated with aggressive cooling and supportive care. He returned the next morning for continued treatment — and we’re so proud to say he made a full recovery. 🙌❤️

Heat stroke is a true emergency that can affect even the most loved and well-cared-for pets. Diesel’s story is a powerful reminder that it doesn’t take much for dogs to overheat — especially during the summer months.

🐶 If your pet is panting excessively, weak, vomiting, or acting confused after time outside, seek emergency care immediately.

We’re so thankful Diesel is doing well and grateful to have been part of his recovery. 💙

🚨 June is National Pet Preparedness Month!
Are you pet-pared for an emergency?

Whether it’s a hurricane, power outage, or unexpected evacuation, having a pet disaster kit ready can make all the difference. 🐾 Being ready means keeping your pets safe, comfortable, and accounted for—no matter what comes your way.

💡 The CDC has an excellent guide for building a Pet Disaster Preparedness Kit:

This site also includes 2 printable documents you can keep in your emergency kit:
📄 Pet Emergency Info Sheet – Keep track of your pet’s medical needs, microchip #, medications, and vet contact info.
📄 Pet ID Card – A quick grab-and-go card to help responders or caretakers know who your pet is and how to help them.

💼 A little planning now can save lives later. Be ready. Be pet-pared.

Meet Ripp! 🐾 This handsome guy came to see us after having some tummy troubles—turns out, he snacked on something he shouldn’t have! 🙈 X-rays showed some suspicious material in his intestines, so we started him on fluids and anti-nausea meds while keeping a close eye on things.

Thankfully, by the afternoon, the foreign material had moved along into his colon (yay!), and Ripp was feeling much better. He headed home for some rest and recovery—with a bland chicken and rice dinner, of course! 🐶🍚❤️

Feel better soon, buddy! 💪
