Understanding canine body language is essential for effective communication with your dog 🐶. Here are five simple tips:
1️⃣ Tail Position Matters – A wagging tail doesn’t always mean happiness! A high, stiff wag can indicate alertness or arousal, while a low, slow wag might show uncertainty or deference 🐕.
2️⃣ Ears Tell a Story – Forward ears suggest curiosity or excitement 😃, but pinned-back ears can signal fear, anxiety, or deference 😬.
3️⃣ Relaxed vs. Stiff Body – A loose, wiggly body generally means a happy, relaxed pup, while a stiff, tense posture may signal stress, aggression, or discomfort 🤗➡️😟.
4️⃣ Yawning and Lip Licking – These are common calming signals dogs use when they’re anxious or trying to diffuse tension 😴👅.

🦴 Frozen Kong or Lick Mat – Stuff a Kong with peanut butter or mashed banana, or spread a tasty treat on a lick mat and freeze it for a longer-lasting, soothing activity.

The Dog Stop is an all-inclusive pet care facility located at 3201 Transcontinental Dr. Metairie, LA 70006

We offer daily dog daycare, overnight boarding, professional grooming services, in-home services (dog walking, pet sitting and transportation) as well as a retail store filled with the best foods, treats, toys and accessories available on the market.
