Juliette is a wonderful mama to her six newborn puppies she had yesterday—all doing great so far!
She didn’t do it alone. Sometimes it takes a village, and the Love Pack is exactly that.
As her inexperienced with whelping foster, my day was a whirlwind of happy, scared, panicked, and tears. Juliette surprised us with her first two pups in her bed. She disliked the whelping pen and stressed when we tried to move her, so we worked with what she wanted.
The first Love Pack angel arrived with supplies just in time. We cut the corners of her bed to flatten it into a bigger space, carefully slid pads and blankets underneath, and everyone settled safely.
Pups 3 and 4 arrived back-to-back. Juliette pushed 3 aside to focus on 4, and we had to gently help the last bit of 4 out. While rubbing 3 briskly with a towel, a second angel walked thru the door with perfect timing to help him latch securely onto mom. We heated a warming pack and tucked it in with the growing family.
A couple of quiet hours later, Love Pack angel #3 showed up with formula just in case. She felt Juliette and thought she detected another pup—and shortly after she left, pups 5 and 6 made their appearance!
