Tiny rescue. Big personality.

Over the last few months, we’ve taken in several stray cats that have crossed our path, and this little girl is one of the newest rescues we’ve been caring for.

She’s approximately 6 weeks old and already showing off her sweet, curious, and playful personality. She loves attention, enjoys exploring, and has quickly settled into indoor life after being rescued from the streets and brought somewhere safe. We’re now looking for the loving forever home here in Arizona that feels just right. (Local Arizona homes only)

Not every “abnormal” blood test in a raw-fed dog or cat means something is wrong.

One of the most common situations we see: a healthy, thriving animal gets routine lab work done, a few liver or kidney values come back elevated, and suddenly raw feeding gets blamed.

The recommendation?
Stop feeding raw.
Reduce protein.
Switch to a prescription diet.

But here’s the issue—most standard reference ranges are based on kibble-fed animals, not species-appropriate, fresh-fed nutrition.

Raw-fed animals process protein, fat, and nutrients differently. Mild elevations in markers like ALT, AST, or ALP can reflect normal metabolic activity—not automatically disease.

That doesn’t mean labs should be ignored. It means they should be interpreted with context.

Trends matter.
Clinical symptoms matter.
Diet history matters.
The whole animal matters.

A thriving animal with slightly “off” labs is not the same as a sick animal with “normal” labs.

Always tell your veterinarian if you raw feed, and always interpret bloodwork alongside the animal—not in isolation.

Labs should support the animal, not override how they eat.

Unlike dogs, cats have specific nutritional needs that can only be met through animal-based foods, including taurine, arachidonic acid, preformed vitamin A, and essential amino acids that support long-term health.

Taurine is one of the most important nutrients in feline nutrition and plays a major role in:

• Vision and eye health
• Digestion
• Immune support
• Overall wellness

Because cats cannot produce enough taurine on their own, they must receive it consistently through diet.
