The Mission: Saving Lives
Wolf Trap Animal Rescue (WTAR) focuses efforts on rescuing high-risk animals from euthanasia, neglect, and abuse. These animals primarily come from Mississippi, where young animals are euthanized by the hundreds each and every day due to overpopulation. Lack of spay-neuter laws and large sections of rural land allow for free-roaming animals to reproduce, leading to a surp

lus of neglected, homeless, and starving puppies and kittens. These animals are then found and brought to local animal shelters, which simply cannot provide the care or homes these pets need in order to survive. Ultimately, they get euthanized for space or for illnesses contracted at the shelter. We rescue these animals by operating a life-saving transport, foster, and adoption program. WTAR finds the pets who need us the most by employing a full-time transport coordinator on the ground in Mississippi (WTAR South), with the goal of working directly with these shelters and communities to be a resource when they cannot accept any more animals or find enough homes. These transports operate weekly, relieving the shelters and communities from overcrowding and needless euthanasia. Redirecting the intake of young, at-risk animals from the shelter to WTAR allows additional time and resources to be spent on the older, less adoptable residents of the shelter that would otherwise be euthanized for space. Rescued animals are then scheduled and placed on emergency transport with WTAR to Northern Virginia. Upon arrival, they undergo an extensive veterinary intake evaluation and then are placed in foster homes until they find their forever homes through private Meet & Greets.

🐾💛 BONDED PAIR LOOKING FOR THEIR FOREVER HOME 💛🐾

Meet Tostada & Tres Leches!
These two have come such a long way from where they started. Both started off unsure of people, but with time, patience, and love, they have made incredible progress and continue to make huge strides every day.

They may be a little skittish at first in a new environment, but once they feel safe and comfortable, their personalities really start to shine.

🖤 Tostada is the black one and very much the leader of the duo. He is curious about everything, a little mischievous, and always wants to know what is going on. Once he trusts you, he also LOVES his lap time and is more than happy to settle in for some affection.

🤎 Tres Leches, affectionately known as Tabacadabra, is the quieter one. He has a special talent for silently appearing out of nowhere like he has been summoned 😂 but he still wants to be part of whatever is happening. He may hang back a little more than Tostada, but he absolutely enjoys being included in the action.

Together, they are basically the Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp in the best possible way. They are bonded, they balance each other beautifully, and they are looking for a home where they can stay together.

These boys have worked so hard to learn that people can be safe and loving, and they deserve a family who will give them the patience to continue blossoming at their own pace.

If you are looking for a bonded pair with huge personalities, an incredible story, and so much potential still unfolding, Tostada and Tres Leches may be the perfect duo for you.

They have already come so far. Now they just need the forever home that will let them keep becoming the amazing cats they were always meant to be. 💛🐾

⏰ ARRIVE EARLY!
Adoptions are processed on a first come, first served basis, so if you have your heart set on a particular animal, we strongly recommend getting there early to get your name on their list.
WTAR staff begin arriving around 8:45 AM, and animals begin arriving around 9:00 AM. There is no traditional start time. Once everyone is ready, we begin processing adoptions!

🐶🐱 Only animals confirmed for the event will be attending.
Our available lineup can change leading up to Saturday, so be sure to keep an eye on our website and social media for the most current information.

🏡 Come prepared to bring your new family member home!
Animals adopted during the public event will leave with their adopters once the adoption is finalized.
We typically wrap up around 11:00 AM, or once the adoption list has been completed, so this is definitely a morning to get up early for!

Whether you’re looking for a playful puppy, a cuddly kitten, a goofy adventure buddy, or a professional couch companion, your new best friend may be waiting for you this Saturday. 🥹❤️
