Meet Ladybug ❤️🐞✨
This little beauty is what we’d call an old soul in a young cat’s body. At just over a year old, Ladybug has already overcome more than most cats ever should. She came to us from a hoarding case, scared and hurting — but with patience, love, and plenty of treats, she’s blossomed into a gentle, affectionate girl who’s ready for her next chapter.

Ladybug enjoys quiet companionship and gets along well with other cats, even if they’re not best friends. She’d thrive in a calm home with cat‑savvy children over 10 who understand her gentle nature and can read her body language.

If you’re someone who appreciates peaceful, loving moments and the quiet comfort of a loyal feline friend, Ladybug might just be your perfect match.

💛 Apply today to meet Ladybug and give her the forever home she deserves!

Handsome, Sweet, and Ready for a loving home!

Please give a big "woof" to Desmond. He is a six-year-old Pit Bull Terrier that joined his friends at CHS in October of last year from animal control.

He is a true sweetheart who will thrive in any size home, including apartments. Desmond has little experience living with children, so if there are children in the home, it would be best if they are familiar with large-breed dogs.

Desmond would consider sharing his home with another dog, provided there is a proper introduction. He would prefer to live in a cat-free home. He does have his moments of calm and will thrive in a home where he can exercise daily.

He would love nothing more than to snuggle up with you and bring you joy. Visit Desmond in Wilton, Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 4:30pm, or learn more online at CThumane.org/Desmond.

Dog Bite Prevention Week is a good time to revisit how we think about risk in practice.

Bites and scratches are, unfortunately, part of veterinary medicine. Some happen even when teams take appropriate precautions, particularly when patients are painful, fearful, or stressed.

At the same time, many practices are finding that consistent protocols can help reduce risk and improve safety over time.

That can look like:
🐾 Recognizing behavioral cues early, starting at intake
🐾 Communicating patient stress clearly across the team
🐾 Using consistent, low-stress handling approaches
🐾 Planning ahead for anxious or higher-risk patients

Small, consistent adjustments can make it easier to respond before situations escalate — supporting safer experiences for patients, clients, and staff.
