Merced Animal Medical Center Animal General Practice and Emergency Hospital We are the areas only 24 hour emergency animal hospital.

We also see routine appointments 7 days a week from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, urgent care visits from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm, and emergencies 24 hours a day.

April 29th through May 2 - Our parking lots will be under construction but we will remain open for appointments and urgent care patients. Please be cautious when entering and exiting.

We just wanted to let all of our pet parents know that we will be OPEN 12/24 and 12/31 for appointments and emergencies. Christmas Day and New Years day we will only closed except for care of patients and boarding pets. Thanksgiving Hours: 11/28-11/30 our hospital will be closed, however staff will be onsite to care for our patients and boarders. If your pet has an emergency during this time please go to your closest 24 hour vet (Taylor Vet or Fresno Vet Specialty and Emergency). Our hospital has elected to use this time for needed construction and to allow our staff to spend time with their family during this holiday season. We will reopen for business and emergencies like usual on 12/1/24. Thank you for your understanding and Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is World Rabies Day. Transmitted through saliva, rabies is an infectious disease that affects the central nervous system. Symptoms may include erratic behavior, foaming at the mouth, weakness, and paralysis. Once symptoms appear, rabies is fatal.

Rabies can be prevented with a vaccine and subsequent boosters. Ensure your pet is up to date by contacting us today.

This week is Deaf Dog Awareness Week, and we’re highlighting signs of hearing issues:

-Doesn’t react to loud noises
-Frequent barking
-Recurring ear infections or pain
-Startles easily and may snap

If your pet is experiencing any of the above, contact us and we will address. Deafness, whether congenital, due to illness, or aging, doesn’t have to prevent your pet from living a happy life!
