The holidays bring sparkle, snacks, and celebrations—but they can also bring hidden dangers for pets. A few seasonal reminders to help keep your furry family members safe:

🎄 Decorations & Plants – Tinsel, ornaments, ribbon, and string lights can cause serious intestinal blockages if swallowed. Also watch out for toxic plants like poinsettias, mistletoe, and lilies.

🍫 Holiday Foods – Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free treats), grapes, raisins, onions, garlic, alcohol, and fatty foods can all lead to medical emergencies.

🕯 Candles & Fireplaces – Curious noses and swishing tails can easily lead to burns or house fires. Always supervise pets around open flames.

🎁 Wrappings & Small Objects – Ribbons, bows, batteries, and small toy pieces can pose choking and obstruction risks.

A little extra awareness goes a long way in keeping the holidays happy, healthy, and emergency-free for everyone—especially the four-legged members of your family. ❤️🐾

❄️ Winter weather is here! Let’s keep our pets safe! ❄️

Cold weather brings unique risks for both dogs and cats, and a little extra care can go a long way in keeping them comfortable and healthy.

🐾 Common Winter Hazards to Watch For:
• Antifreeze toxicity: Even a small amount can be deadly. Clean spills immediately and store products securely.
• Ice melt irritation: Salt and chemical de-icers can cause paw burns and stomach upset if licked. Wipe paws after walks and consider pet-safe alternatives.
• Frostbite & hypothermia: Ears, tails, and paws are especially vulnerable. Limit time outside during extreme cold and dry pets thoroughly after they come in.
• Hidden dangers under the snow: Snow can conceal sharp objects, frozen ponds, and holes that pets can fall into.
• Car engines & wheel wells: Outdoor cats may shelter under the hood for warmth. Tap your car before starting it.

💙 Winter Safety Tips:
• Keep walks short during severe cold
• Use pet-safe booties or paw balm
• Provide warm bedding away from drafts
• Never leave pets alone in cold cars
• Ensure senior pets and those with medical conditions stay warm and monitored

Winter should be cozy—not risky—for our four-legged family members. Stay safe and enjoy the season together! ⛄🐶🐱

Meet Archie! He was the very first patient seen in our new emergency hospital location!

Our team was grateful to be here for Archie and his family as we opened our doors and began providing emergency and critical care in our expanded space. He was a wonderful first patient, and we appreciate his family’s permission to share this moment with our community. ❤️🐾

🍗🐾 Thanksgiving Pet Safety Alert! 🐾🍗

The holiday is all about family, food, and fun—but sometimes our curious pets can get into things they shouldn’t. If your pet eats something unusual this Thanksgiving—like chocolate, turkey bones, or rich foods—stay calm and act quickly:

1️⃣ Assess the situation: Try to figure out what and how much your pet ate.
2️⃣ Watch for warning signs: Vomiting, lethargy, difficulty breathing, or unusual behavior are red flags.
3️⃣ Call your vet or emergency hospital immediately: Even small amounts of certain foods can be dangerous.
4️⃣ Don’t induce vomiting unless instructed: Some items, like bones or grease, can cause more harm coming back up.

Being prepared can save your pet from serious complications—and keep your holiday happy and safe for everyone! 🐶🐱💛
